This place was absolutely dead when we stopped in, but that usually works for me. Lots of stuff from General Lafayette, and most of those were excellent. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable about the beer and didn’t mind chatting with us a bit. When they saw us rating they even threw a few samples in on the house which I always quite enjoy. It’s in a strange part of town and appears to be a part of a condo complex, but don’t let that dissuade you... there’s good stuff to be had here.

The Tiedhouse is an independent restaurant that mostly beer of a Philly suburn brewpub, General Lafayette. The Tiedhouse has their own beer brewed for them, however, that can’t be bought anywhere else. Prices are all over the board, from an incredibly cheap $3 pint of mild, all the way up to a $20 8oz pour of barleywine — the single most expensive tap beer I’ve ever seen in my life, by far. Beer is mostly British styled and pretty good, with a definite house character going on. The service was great, though we were there on a low traffic afternoon.

Just stopped in last night and found all the great beers I love from General Lafayette Inn and lots more. They had 13 GLI beers on including a special Belgian (not available at GLI), a new lager (not available at GLI), 275th Anniversary ale on Draft!, and lots more including some good non-GLI drafts and bottles. Food was good - limited menu, but quite tasty. The place is hard as hell to find, as its in a large condo building. I sat at the bar and got really good service, but it wasn’t busy at all so who knows how they do on the busy nights. The one downside for those who don’t know better is that they will not hesitate to charge big $ for drafts. I knew this going in, but a Harpoon Leviathan was $12 and 275th Anniv $16 - prices are not listed (I could see some unknowing patron being pretty pissed upon getting the bill!). Overall a great place if you’re in the area and don’t mind spending a bit of money. Its got everything I love about General Lafayette Inn with the added bonus or more beers and a Center City location.
