| beerbill (31), Laurel, New York | | May 20, 2008 I can’t believe I haven’t reviewed this place yet. I’ve been coming here with my family since the day it opened. The problem with this place is that the food is very inconsistent from visit to visit and the menu has completely changed several times in the last few years. I much prefer eating in the dining room, as the front area gets very smokey. The beer selection has likewise varied from time to time as well. Right now, they looked to have around 30 beers or so on tap and a decent selection of bottled brews too. If you are a beer geek, there’s probably nothing you haven’t tried, but at least there is a good variety of alternatives to BMC. As others have said, they do not brew on premises. Their beers are contract brewed. | Guinness4Duff (7), Tallahassee (and Poconos, PA), Florida does not count | | January 27, 2008 No, they do not actually brew their own beer... but they do have a few of their own that are contract brewed elsewhere. Ive only had the ball and chain lager, its not bad. As for the selection, your not gonna find a better one in the area. They have beamish on tap (one of my favorites) so thats nice. They have a back deck thats open in the summer with a band, pretty cool. I go here whenever I get home, good place to drink on a friday night. If your looking for some microbrews, head down the road to Barley Creek Brewing Company. Its like 3 minutes away and they actually brew their own stuff. | | DocLock (99), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania | | August 21, 2007 Been here a few times over the years, most recently last weekend. The place name is very deceptive because they don’t actually brew beer here. The only micros were some draft Barley Creek offerings. The rest was a decent sized beer list, but Rogue was the only offering worth mentioning. The food was decent, nothing to write home about, as I got a cheesesteak that was so greasy I couldn’t finish it one time and a passable turkey club another time. Service was pretty slow, and the wait for beers is longer than what I consider acceptable. I probably will not return here. | | hopdog (176), Lansdale, Pennsylvania | | May 31, 2007 Stopped by here on my way to Mt. Pocono. Huge signs - Ladies Night Wednesdays and huge signs for Mail Strippers from Austraillia on Wednesday Night (thank God I went on a Thursday afternoon!). Typical sports bar look and feel inside. 100 or so beers but 99% of them macros (they even have 3 flavors of Zima!). Only 2 house brewed beers on tap. Food was typical pub grub. Waitress disapperared for a little while on us too. |
