Lovely. Fairly quiet. They offer a six-beer sampler of their regular beers, so be sure to ask them to augment it with their seasonal beers, too if you want to taste all eight. Very nice couches and tables. Lots of couples on dates. Professional servers.

Tucked away on a side street downtown, our group of 4 visited this quaint old house last August for a fairly busy Wednesday dinner. Samplers in threes were tasty enough but similar to each other (must be the yeast). Fish in a bag and chips were fresh and nicely prepared. Service was fair and unobtrusive. Downstairs has a whole bunch of neat things to look at in terms of brewing facilities and posters and old photos. The place was packed by the time we left so it was good we got there early.

It’s quite a beautiful place as has been stated by my illustrious predecessors; originally we planned to eat here but the place was packed and there was no room for us for quite some time so we ate across the street at the Irish pub (quite decent). My brother and I came back later for the beer, which was I guess better than I expected from the only brewpub in a whole province, in a very small city -- but still nothing to write home about. The stout was decent, maybe more than that, and surprisingly the honey wheat was all right, but the other four samples were mediocre to poor, somewhat infected/off for the most part. Friendly service and a nice crowd -- dunno if I’ll ever be back but I wouldn’t say no.

Set in a gorgeous 19th century building, artfully decorated, very warm and welcoming, this typical English-style brewpub probably won’t impress you with their selection of house beers, but most of what they make is solid. Like CapFlu said, their beers are available throughout Charlottetown (even at some Mike’s restaurants?!?), but the sheer beauty of the building would make me want to come back to the brewpub itself to resample their beers anytime. The Sydney Street Stout is very good, probably what Guinness "should" be. The food is decent as well, nothing spectacular, but tasty and filling. The one and only beer location on PEI, but thankfully it’s worth visiting every time you’re on the island.

A must stop on the Island whether you are a beer-nut or not. The Gahan House has that very pleasant and outgoing maritime cheer and atmosphere. The staff is easy going and enjoys the interest in their establishment, I was fortunate enough to be served by Mandy - who has an impressive knowledge of the beers and their brewpub business. The food is very tasty, I ordered the Grilled Salmon with Cranberry Chutney ($14) which came with red potatoes, veggies and a very fresh and heavy beer bread. Gahan House is one of the many Murphy restaurant locations on the Island --- so you’ll see the Gahan beers splattered across the Charlottetown, like at Jake’s Kitchen or even the Delta Prince Edward... though my other recommendation would be Fishbone’s Oyster Bar (Richmond x Queen Sts) because of their live acts and more maritime menu. Gotta love the Gahan though!

Very nice looking building from the inside and outside. Friendly staff and all very good looking as well ;) Great atmosphere and no smoking. Well that’s a government rule I guess but I still like it a lot.

Excellent ambience & atmosphere in this place, and great service from the friendly staff. The house beers are all palatable, but only a couple are really good. Food is fresh & tasty pub grub. As Oakes notes, in most large cities, this place might not be very special, but it’s the only place that’s brewing beer in PEI at the moment, so it’s worth a visit.

Excellent 19th century house provides the locale for PEI's only beer destination. The selection is limited to house brands, and only a couple of them are all that good. Didn't eat. Overall, a cozy place to have a pint. You wouldn't break your neck for it in a big beer city, but on PEI you probably should.

August 2006 - Not much to add, had the fish and chips which were recommended by my uncle the chef , and they did not disappoint. Pleasantly battered without drowning the fish. Fries were solid. Artichoke dip appetizer was rich and delicious. Food is on the simple side but very nice. Beers are all decent but none are excellent, I find a strong house character present in all of them. Definitely a must stop when in Charlottetown.

January 2004 - A nice pub, I went in the summer but I can see it being a nice place to hole up in winter. Food was pretty decent, I had a pizza. Staff was very accomodating to a lone patron who was there to try the beer, which was underwhelming but nice.
