In for a quick visit, surprisingly 2 of the 4 beers on cask where new to me. Other than that pretty standard.

Another nice scottish bar. Not the best selection of beers, but still a decent place to visit.

Very nice looking pub, unfortunately with the dubious overflow return system for their cask ales. The couple of ales I had seemed to be in good condition though. Did not eat.

A pretty good looking pub with a spectacular ceiling as if often the case in Edinburgh. Easy access in the heart of the New Town. A bit expensive and the selection of 4 cask ales felt a bit poor, but at least they had a Strathaven which was a new brewery to me. Under average.

Only 4 ale taps on whats apparently an old system that pumps the overflow straight into the cask. I cant think how it manages to get in the good beer guide with banter like that. Local beers pestonpans beers that i hadnt had before in good condition. However im never at ease in edinbrugh and this place didnt mak me feel too much better.

Nice old pub, with a square bar in the middle. Some good ales from cask, they had 5 cask tap point, but only 3 or 4 were available at the time. The upper level of the bar is a restaurant and i tasted the typical scottish haggis, which was actually quite nice, did not expect that. However, the rest of the menu was not to get very excited about.

Visited on Saturday 24th Sept. I used to drink in here when I was a student many years ago, and it was a fine pub then, so it was great to find that it hadn’t changed. We easily found a table even though it was a Saturday Night, good selection of beers (including draught Anchor Steam Beer @ £3.40 a pint!!!...no! I didn’t try it) Service was fast and friendly, didn’t have food so can’t score it on that. 4 cask beers available on our visit.
