I made my trip into Charleston to check if Ted had any local beer from the COAST brewery or any of the other local microbrews. I came up from Tampa, FL to visit family in SC. I was a little disappointed at first to find that he didn’t have any local beer in stock but really enjoyed the selection of beer anyway. Very specialized beer selection as one reviewer said. Ted was very freindly and helped us out of towners find a dine in restaurant in the area and recommended a unique american/belgian hybrid signature brew that I took home with me. (It was very good too). The meats and cheeses looked and smelled great and there was some unique foodstuffs that was fun to browse. I especially liked the chocolate covered bacon candy bars by the register (The idea of them no I didn’t try one.) I will definitely visit Ted’s if I’m in the area again.

This place is an excellent gourmet market in Downtown Charleston. While it is mostly a store, you can sit both inside or outdoors and enjoy your beer and food. The beer selection is not large, but it is of, by far, the highest quality in the Charleston area. They have only the highest quality stuff, often things I have never seen elsewhere in the state. Pricing does not always compete with the big chain stores but if you consider it compared to a bar (since you are invited to sit and enjoy on premises) it is a bargain. Also, everything is available in singles and you can mix your own six pack or more and get a 25% discount which then gets the prices down pretty low. While anybody will try to help you, there is one guy who is extremely knowledgeable named Scott. Ask for him if you are up for a real enthusiastic beer conversation. I highly recommend this establishment. It is my favorite place in the area for great beer (and great sandwiches).
