| Brewman63 (25), , | | November 21, 2009 For a brewpub in a tourist location, this is about as good as can be expected. The beers have a good taste without being overly exceptional. The waitstaff can vary from very good to just okay - it all depends on the person. We went there twice while on vacation and so-so service the first time and really good service the second. Go there between 4 and 7pm for their happy hour specials - half off all drinks (beer and mixed) and their bar food. We had appetizers and they were quite good. It gets busy during happy hour because it is a great deal. I would go back to this place again before I would go to Mad Boar again. The next time in MB we’ll be back.
| | boneyfiend (10), Largo, Florida | | July 26, 2009 This beer is made for people that think Amberbock is a craft beer.
The Nut Brown Ale was so light in body and had such a watered down mouth-feel. We tried their sampler and all the beers were p!ss-warm and rather flat. I think it had been sitting out for a long while waiting for somebody to order it.
The only beer that didn’t taste like an AB variant, was the unfiltered wheat. Luckily, we had a lemon from dinner to add to it. Otherwise, that beer would have a complete loss as well.
On the plus side, I liked the food and it wasn’t any more expensive than the rest of this tourist trap area. Decent 12 oz Ribeye for $20 and a nice Swordfish for $18.
I’d go back for the food, but dodge the beer unless you think AmberBock is a craft brew. | | dmschefke (34), Eastpointe, Michigan | | April 27, 2009 A decent place, but food was not up to par. Beer was pretty decent and not badly priced ($6.95 with souvenier glass, $4.25 for refills) within a touristy area. Food was on the high end. My steak, asked for medium, got medium rare to maybe slightly rare. Chili was nothing special. Service from waitress was actually very good though. | | kennydiaz (14), staten island, New York | | April 20, 2009 A nice family style atmosphere with about 8 of their brews available for sample flights or by the pint. None are really worth noting but the food is pretty decent and a nice place to take the kids located right on the lake in broadway by the beach. Just make sure you visit crocodile rocks without the kids for a late night drink and a great time. | vanwilder (7), Myrtle Beach, South Carolina does not count - explanation | | March 13, 2009 this place is a tourist trap like the rest that surrounds it... beer is decent, service is nowhere near as good as the tap room... | | cheapdark (65), Monacatootha, Pennsylvania | | January 21, 2009 My dad and I visited this place just this past weekend. We hit it right after we left the Myrtle Beach airport, it’s practically right next door. Nice big place with lots of easy parking. It’s located next to a bunch of other beach attractions. From the start it was a good experience. When you walk in there are big sacks of grain and stuff used for brewing. We got a seat next to the waters edge. Really big spacious place with hardly anybody in there. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. Food was pretty good, I had the fried fish and dad had the italian sub special. I got eight 4 oz samples for only $8. Overall a very pleasant experience. Glad I stopped. Surprizingly, only brewpub in myrtle beach area. | | sloth (16), Ceciltucky, Co., Maryland | | August 31, 2008 Really liked the look of this place. Plenty of sacks of grain piled up right when you enter the door. Nice grainy aromas greet you. The brewery is readily visible behind glass walls, looked nice. I dug the looks of the whole place. Did,nt eat anything and did,nt pay for my beers either. Service was good. Beers were fairly tame, inoffensive. I,d stop there again. | fredjaz (2), Virginia Beach, Virginia does not count - explanation | | December 3, 2007 Went here while on vacation, food and service were nothing special but not bad. I did however enjoy the beers I got a chance to try. It was a nice location to relax and enjoy a brew and people watch. Tourists are funny! | | jobyone (14), Charlotte, | | November 12, 2007 Long time haunt for me. Food average. Service decent. Beer ok. The seasonal is usually good but rarely great. $2 drafts nice though. As far as South Carolina goes this is not to bad but really pretty average. | | 00cobraR (27), Greensboro, North Carolina | | July 6, 2007 Well not the greatest place to go. Food was okay, nothing to get excited about and the same goes for the beers. |
