August 21, 2009 [RBESG 2009]. Nice little pub. Very cozy. Nice cask selection. The brewery was a big dirty mess though :D |

July 29, 2009 Cozy pub, with next to it the Little Ale Cart brewery, one of the dirtiest breweries I have ever seen. Beers are decent though, and available at the pub, next to some guest cask ales.
Lower grade for service, because I think it should be possible to share half pints, in stead of being frowned upon if you don’t order a full pint of every beer. |

July 28, 2009 A really cozy, small pub with Little Ale Cart Brewery residing. Friendly staff, a good few casks of decent to good quality. Always good when a well-bahaved dog wanders about. Very welcoming. |

July 23, 2009 Visited during RBESG 09. Very nice cozy bar with comfortable seats lined against the wall. Two separate rooms and a beer garden available. I particularly liked the hand built bar (it looked like one) and some of their really good brews. Nice selection of micros as well. Had a nice time here. |

February 22, 2008 it’ll always be the cask & cutler to me...
the range is perhaps not as exciting as when Neil & Sheila were there, but I still get plenty of new beers, and crucially the quality is there. Also good that it now opens all day.
Just a shame they replaced Magus the cat with a rancid beige sh1t-machine! |

August 26, 2007 Possibly the absolute boozer, totally authentic. A customer came and had about 10 2-liter plastic bottles filled with cask ale when we were there. The other few people we’ve seen there were engaged in conversation at the bar, loudly. Solid selection of around 8-10 casks. Varied beers as in every place in Sheffield. Efficient service. Solid if small bottle selection. |

September 6, 2006 [ Updated August 12, 2007 ] Originally called the Wellington when it was bought by Neil and Sheila Clarke in the early 90’s, it was renamed the Cask & Cutler in 1993. Was thought by most scoopers to be the best scooping pub in Britain before the recent takeover.
The Cask started brewing in 2001 (Port Mahon brewery) after years of preparation, although the beers may not be to everyone’s taste. Has a good selection of Belgian beers and "guest crisps" from the Seabrooks/Tyrrells ranges! My favourite pub in the UK and has consistently been so for the last 15 years; I know a lot of the well-regarded scoopers feel the same way so Neil and Sheila must be doing something right.
The pub has been taken over by the owner of the Dragon in Worcester ( a long-time beer supplier to the place) and is relatively unchanged although the Yorkshireness seems to have gone, sadly... I think the KIT is now may favourite Sheffield pub! |

February 27, 2006 Conveniently located next to the Shalesmoor tram stop and within walking distance of some of the other decent real ale pubs on the Sheffield circuit.
Landlord and landlady are some of the most friendly and knowledgable people you will meet, this goes for the staff too.
Beers always in tip top condition here, good range of guests and also the Port Mahon house beers. Some good ale festivals here throughout the year too. |

February 20, 2006 Straightforward boozer opposite the Shalesmoor tram stop. Excellent cask ales, Port Mahon house beers, dizzyingly large selection of belgian bottles, good banter to be had. |
