| faroeviking (108), BjórtjóðveldiðBjórheimBjórsins, Faroe Islands | | March 11, 2009 Well, 4 beers available when I was there. Looks very turistic and they have banners all over with their beer, really all over. Load dance music (???) pumping out from big speakers....I speak Spanish como tu madre and I told the two people behind the bar that I wanted to taste all the beers available but only small versions. I got three tasters in a wooden tray and one a the side. Nice... took my time to taste and rate... then after a while I wanted to pay. At the counter I was told that I did not drink anything.... ? Qué?.... Then I was told that the tasters were for me to find out which one(s) I liked and then order. How the heck was I suppose to know that?! I got a sampler in a nice tray.... not just a small quick taste in a tiny glass. Well, told the guy how it normally is with the taster thing and was just about to order one the beer I like the most out of the 4 when I was told that he did care for opinios. That was his boss’ area, "Vale, gracis" (Ok, thank you) he s | | Ughsmash (138), Waukesha, Wisconsin | | January 9, 2008 I didn’t do any beer research before my trip, and just stumbled across this palce after dinner one night. It was crowded, dark, and quite smoky.. but it seemed like there were a lot of people really enjoying themselves. It took forever to get service at the bar, and it was even harder to convey to the bartender that I just wanted a sample of all their house beers (she didn’t charge me, and seemed slightly offended because she thought I didn’t like any of them because I didn’t order a pint.. I wasn’t in the mood for a pint of anything at that point). The beers were decent, and much better than most beer you’re going to find in that area. | | Rastacouere (475), Montréal, Quebec | | August 2, 2007 A place that seems to offer some rather variable products, indeed to me, a lover of pale lagers, I was surprised to find much more satisfaction in their dark one. The free tapas are a very nice touch and the prices quite decent. Definitely hit that spot if in Madrid as it’s close to Naturbier. Average beer quality and limited selection, but it’s Spain and still worth visiting. | | voota (92), Melbourne, Australia | | January 27, 2007 This place was fairly quiet, perhaps they would be busier in the summer. They give a tasting plate for free if you ask which is cool... they had all the seasonals, the stout and doppelbock were both very solid beers. Didnt eat, but it looked like they had a good range. Worth a look. Better than Naturabier imo, but you really should go to both as they are so close. | | PeterA (11), Virginia | | November 25, 2006 Went on a rainy Saturday afternoon in November. The staff was very friendly, and treated my daughter like a princess. We were quickly served the free tapas. I asked for the sampler, but they had just finished brewing the Tostada and were having trouble transferring it to a keg so they could pour it. As we were finishing our food, I was presented with the tostada. The food was ok, but certainly not great. Again, they didn’t have one of the seasonals they listed on their menu. One of the brewers even chatted with us as he was rolling a keg up and down a small ramp to get all the bubbles to the top. The food was average at best, but then again, I didn’t expect more. The beer wasn’t bad, but wasn’t great either. At least they actually brew it on site. | | MrGrumpy (13), Crawley, England | | October 29, 2006 Neither the rubia nor the tostada were anywhere near as good as Naturbier, and we didn’t get any complimentary tapas as promised on the menu.
The choice of seasonal specials sounded interesting but they didn’t seem to have any on our visit. | | Nekronos (50), Xalapa, Mexico | | January 3, 2006 A little better, the staff is nice, and some of them seem to really like their job. The get confused about what beers they have, or at least it seems so. | Chimalli (2), Stockholm, Sweden does not count - explanation | | October 17, 2005 Total disappointment: rather tasteless light and dark lager (the doppelbock on the menu does not seem to be brewed anymore); free tapa with your beer like in most other bars in Spain, only sloppier. Beer prices higher than most places. Unenthusiastic staff. (Visit in October 2005) | | fiulijn (198), Como; Lausanne (CH); Malmö (SWE), Italy | | July 1, 2005 People are kind; the beers are not exceptional. | | caesar (119), Bunnik/Utrecht, Netherlands | | June 30, 2005 Nice brewpub in the center of Madrid. Very friendly staff. Beer is served with free tapas and it is not too expensive, although it’s very close by Plaza St Ana. When i asked about their beers, i got a free tasting plate. So, very nice! Much better than Naturbier. |
