Best brew pub in vienna by far. Staff are excellent, beer is great, smoking is allowed, good selection of Cuban cigars for sale. Food is very good also. Gets pretty busy. People are very friendly also. Many tourists show up here.

Visited in September 2008. The house special beers were excellent as was the goulash. A lively atmosphere, being a focal point for English speakers in Vienna, with very attentive service.

Visited 1516 on a number of occasions and is consistently a fantastic place to drink and eat. The beers are superb, particularly the IPA, and good food to match. A must visit in Vienna.

Nice small place, looked more like a good beerbar than a brewpub - I like that. Wooden interior, cobber lamps. 7 different housebeers. The beers are generally more hoppy than usual for austrian beers. The only thing is that the waiter expected that I would pay for something I didn’t get - besides that very friendly !!!

Slightly too hip, too crowded brewpub just a few minutes from the Opera. Don’t really care for the Bar itself, but I love their beers. The best place to get Ales in Austria, I reckon, and they are always doing something nice. Their Hop Devil is fantastic, as were the Big Balls Lager and the Weizen Rauch Bock. (I was there many times over 6 months in 2006).

Austria is loaded with great wine and great places to taste it . So beer tends to take a back seat. This American-style brewpub is a tribute to the Austrian’s open-minded tendency to import a good thing when they see it. On my last visit, they were pouring Victory Brewing Company’s recipe of Hop Devil, brewed by visiting Brewer Covaleski himself. Open-minded spot for those rare moments when a Blaufrankisch just won’t do it.

Central Vienna, cool layout, very stylish. Efficient service and a wonderful array of high-quality brews. After that many days in Czech Republic, the hopdevil was a welcome and perfect change. Food was okay - just had a burger. A bit small, but did the job well.

Located near central Vienna. This place is one of the best brewpubs I visited while I was on my trip. They had some good beers on taps and some pretty good food.

This is a great beer related place in several ways. 1516 has a central location downtown in Vienna in a side street from the pedestrian area. With its warm and laid back atmosphere it was a welcoming retreat from the bitter winds outside during a visit in late November 07. The brewing process was on so the whole place smelt of delicious sweet malts. Some American grunge rock and the big music of the Waterboys in the background. Friendly and polite service from two young girls. Certainly a homely feeling. During my visit for a couple of hours I enjoyed my best Cesar salad ever and, of course, some really well made brews. Beers available were: a Radler and a Lager, a Dry Weizen, Sven’s Bayrisches Märzen, the Peacher Pale Ale, the superb Yankee Sticke and the outstanding New Zealand Victory Hop Devil. My only objection is that the beer list could have been a bit more informative. Looking forward to their new web site. The establishment is highly recommended and easily the best place I visited in Wien (Visited, 30.11.2007).

I lived in vienna for 6 months and spent several nights a week at 1516.. it is a great international hotspot for young people with great food, fantastic beer, friendly staff and just an amazing atmosphere!
