| foppa78 (11), Lees Summit, Missouri | | December 10, 2009 This is a fun place to go here in KC. The beer is descent. The service is usually great. The food used to be spectacular but recently changed up the menu. Their new chef does not seem nearly as talented as the previous one. With the old menu this would have been a solid 85+ point rating but with the new menu I just don’t care to go as often. | | unclemattie (104), Georgia | | September 21, 2009 On 75th, South KC. Parking in the back. Kinda dark inside. Brewing kettles in the center of the room. Dark bar, surrounded by varied, large sized, Mug Club drinking vessels. All were labeled with a numbered, leather key fob, well organized. Staff were all very knowledgeable and friendly. They could tell that I was not a local. Has a small plate, shrimp risotto in a saison sauce. Very inexpensive. Some locals started to show up. All of the staff were chatting it up with them on the corner of the bar. There was a Doctor (on-call), and old guy drinking an IPA from his Mug Club stein, and a couple who brought some pickles from home. All were watching the KC Chiefs. Watched the beginning of the game here. There is something about watch a football game with locals cheering on their home team. Good or Bad, they will always cheer them on. It is an energizing experience. The Chiefs almost had that one too! 13sept09 | aaronhaywood (5), Kansas City, Missouri does not count - explanation | | May 5, 2009 This place is awesome. Not the best selection of house brews but the service was awesome. Never have I had a better server. I was to make this one of my regulars. Awesome beer. Amazing food. Great service. | | Zinister (49), Houston, Texas | | March 15, 2009 Good bar with good food and good service. Friendly place. | | unclemike (15), Ft. Riley, Kansas | | February 15, 2009 Went twice on valentines day one time in the afternoon to sample beers, the menu said a flight of six but ed let me sample 9 for free, in which Ed the bartender was helpful and knowledgeable. Went to buy a syphon but were out of tops so in turn got a growler for the price of a syphon. Went back for valentines dinner and the food, service, and everything was spot on. Next time in kansas City will be hitting this place up again. | | Dogbrick (218), Columbus, Ohio | | October 10, 2008 [ Updated October 20, 2008 ] (Visited 02/2008): This brewpub is located on 75th Street (duh) not too far from downtown KC. They have a private lot that fills up pretty quickly. Some street parking is nearby as well.
The exterior of the building is pretty standard. Inside, the space is divided into a bar and restaurant, with the brewing equipment between. The bar is dark, and there is a nice collection of bottles and various breweriana around. The bar has disallowed smoking since my visit. Evidently this place suffered a fire not too long ago, and a couple mementos of lost artifacts are around (such as a refridgerator door that used to hold their cask beer).
75th Street has 8 beers on draught with a couple seasonals, plus occasionally bottled one-offs. All of the beers are average to above average, with the special bottled beer being a standout. A sampler is available that includes all beers currently in rotation.
Service here was very good on a late weekday afternoon. The bar was actually pretty busy, at least enough for a Manager to comp our first round of beers for taking awhile. Also, the brewer came over personally to ask us how we liked the product. It was a nice touch.
I did not have any food on this visit.
Overall this is a nice spot in KC that I would visit again if given the opportunity.
| | theisti (114), Leawood, Kansas | | August 3, 2007 [ Updated May 15, 2009 ] Visited many times, most recently today for lunch. Standard lineup of beers is just OK, but the special beers and firkin offerings are generally quite interesting and tasty. Additionally, the food and scene are quite good. I have always had good service. At night, this is quite a bar scene, though during meal hours is family friendly. A huge minus of this place in the past has recently been corrected - the entire establishment is smoke free! This is part of an overall KCMO smoking ban, but still good news. | | Dansting (114), Overland Park, Kansas | | June 29, 2007 Beer quality is great, but beer selection is average. They usually only have about 6 or 7 different beers. The place is pleasant, but neither outstanding or poor. Usually pretty busy. Service is okay. Waitstaff never seems to know what beer is good. Beer and food is more expensive than most brewpubs, but they do have $2 draws after 10 PM and other specials. Food is very good, but it is more expensive than other places too. A great place to go. | | Gregis (23), Shawnee, Kansas | | June 3, 2007 A brewpub with a restaurant feel, this place can be a little noisy, but you can still carry on a private conversation at your table. A decent menu with typical pub fair (e.g.: 3 varieties of "fish and chips") and a few deviations. The honey-mustard grilled chicken club is killer and the steak fries on my last visit were perfect. They typically have their 5 standard brews on-tap with one to three varietals added to the mix. The beers run from "eh" to quite good depending upon the seasonals available. | | vyvvy (23), Hazelwood, Missouri | | April 18, 2007 Visited for Saturday dinner around 6:00 and there was a good crowd, but not too busy. A nice sized brewpub that was more on the restaurant feel. The beers were all solid for the styles, but nothing out of the ordinary. The pizza was enjoyable, but not a knock out. The service was fine and the bartenders were friendly. This seems like it would be fine for the whole family. The place didn’t knock me out, but if I was a local I would drop by on occasion and be happy with what I got. |
