| Dogbrick (188), Columbus, Ohio | | October 10, 2008 (Visited 02/2008): This brewpub is located on 75th Street (duh) not too far from downtown KC. They have a private lot that fills up pretty quickly. Some street parking is nearby as well.
The exterior of the building is pretty standard. Inside, the space is divided into a bar and restauraint, with the brewing equipment between. The bar is dark, and there is a nice collection of bottles and various breweriana around. The bar allows smoking and there is no barrier so they lose points on that. Evidently this place suffered a fire not too long ago, and a couple mementos of lost artifacts are around (such as a refridgerator door that used to hold their cask beer).
75th Street has 8 beers on draught with a couple seasonals, plus occasionally bottled one-offs. All of the beers are average to above average, with the special bottled beer being a standout. A sampler is available that includes all beers currently in rotation.
Service here was very good on a late weekday afternoon. The bar was actually pretty busy, at least enough for a Manager to comp our first round of beers for taking awhile. Also, the brewer came over personally to ask us how we liked the product. It was a nice touch.
I did not have any food on this visit.
Overall this is a nice spot in KC that I would visit again if given the opportunity.
| | theisti (71), Leawood, Kansas | | August 3, 2007 Visited many times, most recently today for lunch. Standard lineup of beers is just OK, but the special beers and firkin offerings are generally quite interesting and tasty. Additionally, the food and scene are quite good. I have always had good service. At night, this is quite a bar scene, though during meal hours is family friendly. | | Dansting (114), Overland Park, Kansas | | June 29, 2007 Beer quality is great, but beer selection is average. They usually only have about 6 or 7 different beers. The place is pleasant, but neither outstanding or poor. Usually pretty busy. Service is okay. Waitstaff never seems to know what beer is good. Beer and food is more expensive than most brewpubs, but they do have $2 draws after 10 PM and other specials. Food is very good, but it is more expensive than other places too. A great place to go. | | Gregis (18), Shawnee, Kansas | | June 3, 2007 A brewpub with a restaurant feel, this place can be a little noisy, but you can still carry on a private conversation at your table. A decent menu with typical pub fair (e.g.: 3 varieties of "fish and chips") and a few deviations. The honey-mustard grilled chicken club is killer and the steak fries on my last visit were perfect. They typically have their 5 standard brews on-tap with one to three varietals added to the mix. The beers run from "eh" to quite good depending upon the seasonals available. | | vyvvy (22), Hazelwood, Missouri | | April 18, 2007 Visited for Saturday dinner around 6:00 and there was a good crowd, but not too busy. A nice sized brewpub that was more on the restaurant feel. The beers were all solid for the styles, but nothing out of the ordinary. The pizza was enjoyable, but not a knock out. The service was fine and the bartenders were friendly. This seems like it would be fine for the whole family. The place didn’t knock me out, but if I was a local I would drop by on occasion and be happy with what I got. | BrewSquid (9), Plattsburg, Missouri does not count | | December 9, 2006 KC’s 1st brewpub. Winner of several GABF awards and voted best brewpub in KC several times. I worked as a brewer’s apprentice here. It is the only pub offering cask conditioned ales served through a beer engine in the KC area. | | KAggie97 (122), Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring , Texas | | September 23, 2006 Nice location. Atmosphere was pretty laid back. Beers were so-so. Food was pretty good. I hate choppy sentences. They are like nails on the chalkboard. But sometimes you can’t help it. Like this time. | | heemer77 (134), Savannah, Missouri | | September 6, 2006 This location had some decent fruit beers and some great vegetarian chile. The place was a little crowded with too many tv’s. While I was there, they onl had 4 beers on tap. A decent brewpub. | | illinismitty (200), Nashville, Tennessee | | December 11, 2005 When I visted, it was packed. I did not get food. Considering how busy it was, service was great and the bartender was very friendly and referred to me on a first name basis. The beers are pretty solid, and cask beers are a nice touch. Worth a visit | beerhandy (4), Tulsa , Oklahoma does not count | | October 1, 2005 Friday night happy hour the place was hopping
Irish red on cask and a decent IPA on tap
Nice ecclectic mix from suits to hippies
Service was pretty fast as packed as it was
