| Crater137 (11), | | December 3, 2009 What awesome beer! The white is obviously fantastic. | | Glouglouburp (214), Montreal, Quebec | | November 1, 2009 Now that’s a pleasant tour. I don’t know if public transportation makes it to Allagash but by car it’s pretty easy. From the outside it looks like a business place like so many others. The pleasant gift shop is at the entrance door. Glasses, t-shirts (particularly good quality shirts) and such. That’s where you wait to take the tour and do small-talk with the friendly staff. The tour is very informative and you have access to every part of the brewery. You’ll be amazed at how small the bottling line is despite Allagash being a relatively big micro. The chilli barrel room is pretty cool. I took many brewery tours over the years and they tend to be very similar but there is something about the Allagash brewery tour that was more fun than the other ones. The brewery is pleasant to walk around. Or maybe it’s because I like the brewery a lot. The one bad thing is that they don’t keep any bottle for the customers that visit the brewery. What is sold at the gift-shop is what is being sold at the moment. I wish they could keep a few cases of Seasonals (like Interlude and others) so that Allagash passionate that visit the brewery could purchase some of their products even off-season. I left happy but Interludeless. | | porterhouse (46), Alna, Maine | | October 21, 2009 Allagash people are friendly. How could you not like a place that serves waffles and coffee to the folks that show up on Vagabond release day? Probably Maine’s best (and most expensive) brewery. Gift shop has some neat little items as well as almost all of their bottled beers (don’t expect a discount here though). Never done the tour. | | Gethinbeer (65), Nova Scotia | | March 21, 2009 Good selection of Allagash beers obviously. Didn’t do the tout but picked up a few.a little pricey but thats what you pay I suppose. | Sohlman (9), Lisle, Illinois does not count - explanation | | February 13, 2009 My opinion only but Allagash brews the best Belgium style in the U.S. | | kevin62 (10), New Jersey | | January 11, 2009 Went around the end of december of 08.Nice enough staff, nice well kept up place.Took us a little time to find the place though. The samples were given out first, nothing I had not had before, they do not open the real good stuff. The tour was run by a nice enough young girl, not too long.My only dissapointment was since I order for a craft beer bar in New Jersey, my distributor said I should mention my name-and I did.I use Allagash at my bar quite often-and they acted like they did not know I was coming, and did nothing.Oh well. | | VTHopHead (36), Barre, Vermont | | January 3, 2009 Got there right at closing... had trouble finding the place... missed the tour. The folks were really nice. Got to stick my head in the door of the brewery... looked clean and well organized. Only had a few of their beers available at the store... that was a bit disappointing. I love their beer! | | Beershine (268), Traipsing Around, Cambodia | | June 21, 2008 Cool brewery that manages to stay professional and efficient but fun and adventurous at the same time. Great staff, great attitudes. They do the experimental barrel aging and microbial stuff and have a koelschip room with a custom-made stained glass A on the door. The tour is lightening fast, which is actually quite nice. And they start with the tastings instead of ending with them, which is also nice. Worth a visit if in the area. | | Oakes (422), Kowloon, Hong Kong | | June 21, 2008 First, there’s the standard tour and tasting, which begins with a handful of tasting from the big bottles. Fun stuff, but they don’t break out their special brews. The tour is quick and easy, which is fair enough as I’ve seen a lot of breweries. The shop has a good selection of their specialty brews. Now, my girlfriend had been in contact with one of the brewers and we got to see the koelschip room, which was pretty cool stuff, and got us a couple of special bottles from in back. Sweeeet. | | josarah (68), Hinesburg, Vermont | | May 5, 2008 Nice easey to find brewery. Tour was pretty simple bordering on poor. The girl leading it was new and did not know much about brewing. The brewers were nice, but nothing special. Beers are good, the only tasting were their 12 oz.bottles, none of the better stuff. |
