October 5, 2009 Easy to miss place because it is integrated with a hotel/Inn building called the Eastern Slope Inn Resort. The Flatbread sign is hard to see so look for the Eastern Slope Inn Resort sign, not the Flatbread sign. Surprisingly large interior divided in two semi-separated sections. The pub section on your right has a long bar and is totally appropriate to hang around drinking beer if you don’t want to eat there. The biggest section is the restaurant and it has a very nice open atmosphere. Overall the place looks great and you totally forget that you are part of a hotel building. About a dozen tap when I was there including Smuttynose, Long Trail, Tuckerman, etc. I was especially surprised to see two Moat Mountain brews on tap, isn’t Moat Mountain (1 mile away) a competitor of this place? The thin crust pizzas looked great but I didn’t eat there. To me the pizzas, oven, atmosphere, concept and everything felt like Burlinton’s Flatbread but without the Zero Gravity micro that they have in Burlington. However I just surfed the net and there seems to be two groups of Flatbread franchise (www.flatbreadcompany.com, www.americanflatbread.com). Seems like the same different thing to me. Overall this place is worth a stop but I recommend Moat Mountain (1 mile up the same road) over this place unless of course you really want a pizza. |
