4 reviews for Right Brain Brewery
skoll (5), Traverse City, Michigan does not count - explanation | | November 4, 2009 I’ve been here many times a few times. If you want a pizza order it and have it delivered to the bar. I’ve had a beer that someone said "You’ve got to try this" But the Italian basil infused ale was I guess an aquired taste. I like the Art on the walls and the location is hard to find but worth it when you do (park around back) | | kitschy (46), Nebraska | | September 5, 2009 Ok, so it adjoins a hair salon and you enter through the side door of a warehouse. Other than that, it’s perfect!!! One of the owners was our bartender, the regulars are beer geeks who share stories about their favorite right brain beers, the mug club members decorate their own mugs at the do-it-yourself ceramics place a few doors down, they don’t mess around with food other than simple things like chips, and the giant white board lists all the amazing, enticing ingredients in their beers. Fantastic! | | Slabjacker (34), | | August 10, 2009 I was excited to try this place after reading the previous reviewer’s comments. A somewhat eclectic place with odd pieces of furniture (barber chairs, hospital chairs etc.), board games and a simple bar area. Perhaps it was bad timing on my part but contrary to the previous review, there were only seven beers on tap, not 10-15. They had a massive list of upcoming beers but none were available, nor did the sign indicate when they would be served. I favour the darker beers so I was disappointed that there was only one on tap, "Stuck Truck Stout". It was ok, somewhat bitter. I ended up taking the sampler, which seemed expensive to me at $15 but the glasses are a little larger than the samplers at other places I’ve tried. The "Fragilistic Raspberry" and "Cherry Festive Ale" were surprisingly tasty but the "Scarborough Spiced Ale" and "Ethel the Frog" were, to me, wretched; perhaps it’s an acquired taste...I’m sure others will like it, I couldn’t finish them - and I’m not one to leave a beer behind. The "Will Power Pale Ale" was typical of IPAs. The Rootbeer was probably the best thing I tasted. The service was friendly and quick. You can tell those running it seem to enjoy what they do. Business picked up shortly after I arrived (noon on a Saturday) and by the time I left, it was about half full (all kinds of clientele too). I’d recommend trying it out if you’re a beer lover, at least once. Personally, I’d prefer to see a wider and more varied menu before I return. Add a porter, a nut brown, maybe another stout (sweeter in taste) and I’ll be back. | | greco (14), Zeeland, Michigan | | July 18, 2009 Visited on vacation and kind of wish it was closer. A nice place but very difficult to find, even with myh GPS telling me it was right there, you have to go inside past the haircut place. Just not well marked. Also parking is a bitch. Once inside though, you are rewarded with a nice ambiance and a great selection of tasty brews. The bartenders were quick, friendly and knowledgeable. They have about 10-15 beers (all their own) on tap, including a firken. The brewer obviously likes to experiment and has some very tasty looking selections on the board. There is no food which is a shame because this place is far better than Mackinaw brewing company that I went to later in the day and the North peak brewing company that has a very poor selection. The locals hang out and play board games and there are two cork dart boards. I think they have wifi too. All in all, go for the beers.... they know how to excite your taste buds. |
