October 3, 2009 Very nice new beer bar on the lake front in Mandeville, LA. Brand new, just built at this writing. But, they either used used wood in the construction, especially for the hardwood floor (there’s plenty such used wood to be had around here post Katrina) or they did an impressive job of simulating it. The expanse of double doors across the front opening onto the the balcony may be vintage as well. Overall, an impressive job of creating the look of an old-world pub. The place is raised about 20 feet in the air to help it survive storm surges. This gives a great view of the lake from the large patio all the way across the front. There’s also a patio/party area underneath the building at ground level. Many large flat-screen TV’s that show real HD programming (NOT stretch-o-vision) and an HD projector. 45 rotating beers from all over the world on tap and well over a hundred in bottles. Appropriate glassware is used for each draft beer. |
