ETBG (1), , Kansas does not count | | August 11, 2008 I’ve enjoyed Barleys for a few years and what better a place to relax and enjoy from a hundred draft beers or more than fifty bottled beers. The food is great too! | rader58 (3), Leawood, Kansas does not count | | July 5, 2008 Pretty good selection of beers. Many midwest microbreweries. Has a mug club on Monday nights. Newly added outdoor dining area. | | eaglefan538 (90), Wilmington, Delaware | | January 18, 2008 A good stop for drinking good beer and watching sports. Beer selection is quite good, very broad coverage of decent to good midwest brews on draft. Atmosphere is chain-like w/ more of a family feel than a pub or bar. Food was good but didn’t stand out from the big chains that offer similar venues. | sipnor (3), Kansas does not count | | August 3, 2007 Great place to get a pint from one of the local breweries like 75th St, Freestate or Boulevard Brewery. I agree with angie497, sit at the bar wait staff not very helpful. Nice food menu to choose from, can’t go wrong with the pizza’s. | angie497 (1), Olathe, Kansas does not count | | February 18, 2007 Decent selection, really above average for this neck of the woods. If you want to deal with staff that has more knowledge of beer, sit at the bar, not in the restaurant - there’s a big difference in the knowledge level of the bartenders and the general wait staff. In fact, sit at the bar anyway. You can get the same food, better conversation, and avoid the children that occasionally there in the evenings. Or come after dinner on Friday or Saturday night. Despite the description here of young adult & some families, it actually gets more of an adult crowd, so if you’re over 30, you won’t feel like you’re babysitting. | | theisti (71), Leawood, Kansas | | November 7, 2006 [ Updated March 28, 2007 ] Service was not great when I was there, but the beer selection was decent (though disappointing for a 99 tap joint). They do a pick 5, where you can try 5 different 3-4 oz samples for $8, which I liked. Food was decent. Would have scored higher, but as mentioned in other reviews, these people don’t know squat about beer. I picked Rogue Dead Guy Ale for one of my pick 5’s, they were out, and swapped in Shiner Bock as a similar beer. UPDATE They finally have put their beer list on-line, I added the link to the listing. Not sure on how fresh the list is, but it at least gives you a sense of how A 99 tap bar can still somehow have nothing interesting on. | | KUEric (72), Chevy Chase, Maryland | | December 18, 2005 [ Updated March 7, 2006 ] Beer selection is large but not overly spectacular. Was suprised when she told me that they often run out of the seasonals (sure they promote them in the restauraunt, but there can’t be that many beer adventurers in KC can there?, who knew?) I had a couple of appatizers that were better than beerpub food, but not great by any means either. | | illinismitty (200), Nashville, Tennessee | | December 11, 2005 I stopped in after my visit to 75th St Brewery. Plus my hotel (Hampton Inn) was within stumbling distance. Very nice selection of beers. As one reviewer said, the beer is served too cold (which is a very common thing) and my bartender did not know jack s#*t about beer. That’s ok, because I do. The food is very good. Worth a visit if you are this end of town. If you order any ales, you just need to let it sit awhile. Stay at the hotel and you can get drunk and not worry about driving. | | Indra (47), Prairie Village, Kansas | | December 1, 2004 Great selection for the part of town it’s in. Beers are typically served far too cold and the staff won’t know anything beyond what they have on at the moment (if that) but the fact that they have over 100 beers on tap including some Free State and the quality of the food make it very worthwhile. | | PhillyBeer2112 (55), Orange Park, Florida | | November 3, 2004 The beer list here is not entirely different from what you’d find at Old Chicago: a wide range of macros and international lagers, the more common micros and regional micros, plus a few big name imports. This location is a good place to snag some Free State though. Beers are served a little cold, possibly using nitro to push, as does Old Chicago. The big store was the food here - the whole family loved it. Hearty and comforting, well prepared, good selection of steaks, fish, BBQ, burgers, etc. | View Page : 1 2
