23 reviews for Beachwood BBQ
| can8ianben (69), Pasadena, California | | December 26, 2009 Sat at the bar in this tiny little BBQ joint in Seal Beach. Bartender was extremely knowledgeable and polite. I enjoyed the atmosphere and mixed generation crowd that continued to pour in. The beer selection was heavily slanted towards winter beers, but most of the stuff on their tap list was unusual one-offs and hard to find items. Pints were a bit pricey - most were between $6 and $7 - but I guess you have to pay to get hard to find items. Good food - not the best BBQ I’ve ever had, but really tasty. Looks like they usually have a beer on cask - pretty cool! | Blake (5), Orange, California does not count - explanation | | December 17, 2009 This small hole-in-the-wall BBQ place serves your standard BBQ fare and has a great selection of beers on tap. We got there just a little after 5 (which was lucky for us since the place filled up quickly) and were promptly greeted by a gorgeous red-head who quickly informed us beers were a dollar off, so we got a round and some fried pickles. She was attentive to our needs the whole night, brought us tasters of a few beers and always kept our glasses full. The beer is amazing here and I enjoyed all the beers I was able to sample on tap. The food is just "good" for BBQ. Everything is dry rubbed and BBQ’ed - no sauces on the meat delivered to your table - sauce it yourself. The sides were adequate, we enjoyed a couple, didn’t like a couple others. Cornbread was good, but again, nothing special. I think if you’re going here, it’s for the beer. I might make a return visit when I see they have a couple extraordinary beers on tap, but until then, probably not going back. | | tangent (13), San Pedro, California | | December 7, 2009 Located right up the street from the beach, gotta love it. Beachwood is a little small and can become pretty crowded later in the evening, but is always a blast. There draft selection is not the largest, but what they do have is always amazing. They also offer a "hop cam" on their website that takes daily snapshots of their always changing draft menu so you can check it out before you leave the house. The staff is very knowledgeable and always friendly. They also have an INSANE list of bottled beers. I usually don’t buy stuff that I can have at home already, but they actually have some crazy stuff bottled that you would be pretty hard pressed to find elsewhere. All-inall, a great place with great staff and great beers. | | angrypirate06 (16), Texas | | September 28, 2009 Bman1113vr took me here. Nice little hole in the wall with a great tap list. Had Black Butte XXI here, and they had a cask on as well. Solid BBQ for California. The bartender definitely knew his ber, and was a homebrewer as well. | | elihapa (62), Honolulu, California | | July 28, 2009 Quite literally a hole in the wall on the main strip in Seal Beach, Beachwood BBQ serves up a revolving tap list all of the highest quality. Although I wasn’t able to eat here (it looked delicious), I did have a Double Jack, a couple of samples (Speedway and Black Butte XXI), and a nice chat with the owner, Lina. Beachwood seems to have a pretty loyal following, and with the extra beer geek traffic it should do just fine down the road. All of LA should celebrate! | | CharlesDarwin (144), Point Judith, Rhode Island | | March 23, 2009 This place quickly jumped into my Top 10 favorite restaurants all time. I love the menus. The food menu is concise and focuses on excellent examples of barbeque-style foods and other similar fare. I had a really, really hard time choosing from the menu, because everything looked incredible. All the food was outstanding! I’m still buzzing off of it. The country pate and fried pickles were fantastic appetiziers. The salmon and chicken paired beautifully with the grits and the coleslaw. Just incredible. I loved the sauces too. Everything had a wonderful unique touch and was obviously well thought out. The items and menu just seem specially crafted, which all had a great from-scratch sense. The tap menu and bottle menus were fantastic and I wanted to ordered everything. Even better, the prices were incredibly fair. The decor and atmosphere were warm and homey and I wanted to settle in for a fortnight. This place is a MUST visit. I love it. | doublea (1), , California does not count - explanation | | February 8, 2009 Best beer spot in the OC. Good crowd, great servers, cool owner/bartender, delicious BBQ, and fantastic beer selection. | | ajm (165), Los Angeles, California | | February 2, 2009 I dig this place. One half is small beach bar, one half is 50s diner. BBQ is not the best I’ve had but absolutely is serious. Beers range from weird taps to bottles that even distinguished beer bars just don’t carry, let alone put on the menu. Snap. | | stoad (21), laguna niguel, California | | December 27, 2008 [ Updated March 19, 2009 ] Stopped by pretty late on a Thursday evening. Thought they might be closed but there were people inside so we gave it a shot. The staff was friendly, as were the 6 or 8 folks still in there. Draft selection was nicely varied and had some eclectic choices I had not seen around. | | m4rest88 (14), Beverly Hills, California | | November 30, 2008 A great place! definitely worth drive from Los Angeles. Parking may seem at first a little hectic, but when goes around back, they have their own lot, and parking becomes that much more easy.
Came in starving - ordered a two item smoked chicken and sausage - great food - very spicy though.
As for beer i split a bottle of firestone 11 with bman1113vr. I also expressed an intrest in a sour beer that they had on tap, and the waiter was kind enough to give us a free sample. Another notable beer in bottles was isabelle proximus and angel share. Great ambiance - small place, but very clean and not too crowded. |
