| lithy (93), Knoxville, Tennessee | | July 28, 2009 Very chain like feel, beers are fair to middling, has a beer engine but didn’t have anything on while I was there. Menu was the same as others. | | MtStateBeer (21), Hurricane, West Virginia | | July 16, 2009 Started off here on a Saturday night. Chain restaurant type of atmosphere. Service was very good, the waitress was good about recommending beers. She was also nice and friendly. I, of course, had the sampler to start. The Red ale was good, nice and hoppy, the brown was good as well. Overall the beers were typical brewpub beers. Nothing special but drinkable. I thought the food was really good though. I had the cajun shrimp tacos, I think it was a summer offering. Not a bad stop if you are in the area. | | Acknud (16), Morganfield, Kentucky | | June 6, 2009 Average place. The ambiance was average, food was average, and the beer was definitely average. It reminded me of a Friday’s or Chili’s that happened to brew some of their own beer. | jimmay (7), Waterloo, Ontario does not count - explanation | | March 8, 2009 Great place! Lots of beer, brewed on premises. People were friendly, food was good. Nice menu selection. Lots of bottles too. Good value. Nice sampler available. | | stoad (21), laguna niguel, California | | December 28, 2008 Server was polite & helpful. We tried a couple of tasters, but couldn’t find anything the wife or I wanted to sit down with. All the beers had that "cute brewpub but they’re really about the food" coppery background taste and finish. Tipped the man and wandered back down the street. | | Butters (150), Virginia | | November 18, 2008 Cool location downtown, even though parking can be a bitch. Went here to watch the 2008 election returns. The beers were about average, no real standouts. The staff was quick, friendly, and knew about their own beers as well as other locals around town. The food was on the bad side of average. The sampler was a decent value. | Fightfire4beer (9), Virginia does not count - explanation | | December 13, 2007 okay menu, but a little pricey. Service was okay and the place was clean. Beers were nothing to shout about, but they were okay. they do offer samplers. | | Braudog (476), Dayton, Ohio | | May 15, 2006 May 2006: This place really trumpeted their beers, but boy did they suck! Didn’t eat, but wasn’t really interested to. Skip this place and go to Boscos and Blackstone. | | StewardofGondor (122), Washington Heights - Milwaukee, Wisconsin | | March 16, 2006 A great place for recovering alcoholics, I suppose. Most beers are 4% or less and they all taste like shit, save the stout. Avoid at all costs. | | BeerHawk (39), Huntsville, Alabama | | March 6, 2006 Was in here mid week for lunch. Not a very busy crowd so service was great. They only had their 6 regular taps going on this visit, no seasonals or specials. The food was great and fast. The server even suggested beer to go with the food we ordered. I agree with illnismitty, THEY NEED AN IPA. The Red Brick will be the hoppiest thing you find here if that is your interest. They do have a large outside patio for sitting and enjoying the day go by watching the 2nd Ave activates. Parking is always a problem downtown and so expect to pay! |
