October 7, 2009 Two distinctive beers, but the rest was just "regular stuff." We went there for beer, but the food turned out to be good and great value. Service was very efficient, and the recommendations spot-on. |

September 28, 2009 Cool location in the heart of Clawson. Like several posters have said, it has an artsy feel...but I thought it added to the experience. Plenty of seating inside along with an outdoor patio right along the main roads. Decent selection of about 7 brews. The IPA and Oktoberfest were above average. Friendly, prompt service. Worth a stop if your in the area. |

January 22, 2009 Great pub. Lots of good beers on tap. Even had hard cider and raspberry chocolate port wine. Smoke free. All good. |

July 15, 2008 [ Updated July 16, 2008 ] This is a cool pub. Unlike the usual small-town/suburb brewpub that has more of a restaurant feeling the Black Lotus is a place I can imagine spending an entire evening at. Maybe I was particularly lucky on the only night I visited the pub but this was one of the favourite place of a long 10 days intensive pub-crawling across the north-east and central USA. Really nice set-up, high ceilings, inviting bar in the middle, stand-up and sit-down chairs. Brewing equipment in plain view. An eclectic left-wing crowd of all ages, a super cool band that played mostly improvised funk-rock. Some solid beers. What more can I ask for. I think this place must be rocking hard on week-ends. When I was there they had 8 homebrews on tap. The IPA was kick-ass, the 12% Strong Belgian was ok and so was the Pale Ale. The atmosphere won me over. |

June 14, 2008 Nice new interior. High ceilings. ample seating. They had about 6-8 of their own brews on draft. The menu is mostly sandwiches, but interesting choices and reasonably priced. Good service. A nice stop for dinner and good beer. |

February 7, 2008 Pretty typical brewpub atmosphere with live music on some nights. The staff is quick, friendly, and knowledgeable about their beers. The selection is generally small with only about 6 beers on tap. They do also offer a wine selection and lots of good tea and coffee. The food is best described as gourmet pub fare and is reasonably priced and quite tasty. |

August 9, 2007 The Black Lotus Brewing Company is the Crown Jewel for the City of Clawson. The Red Tao and People Mover Pilsner mix is the best (Thanks Kerry!) Great Job Mark and Mike.

June 19, 2007 Very enjoyable. I think this place will become a regular hang-out for me as I am moving to the area. The staff was attentive, thoughtful, and knowledgeable. I like the "hip’ atmosphere, although it is almost too open. It would be nice if it felt a little more cozy. Their beers are flavorful and unique. I especially like their red and one of the stouts I tried. |

May 30, 2007 I love this place. I dont understand the negative comments about the brew. This place was the most professional tasty brewery I’ve ever experienced. Service was great, the girls were hot, beer was even better. |

March 2, 2007 The coffehouse artsy feel of ths place is not comfortable at all. This is a bar not a coffeehouse.
The beer was sub par at best. It was either watery or flavorless. The IPA was ok but you can get better at any of the other local breweries. |
