| SudsMcDuff (38), was CapeTown,SA-now Houston, Texas | | September 21, 2009 Now, my server was a great guy, Lawrence, and i pestered him the whole time i was there. damn fine food, even the hotdags without the dag. beer is actually pretty good too! the King William brew was quite intoxicating and merry drinking! this place gets a slight knock on it from most, why? no clue why, i fucking loved it!! a nice cozy place with good brew and good food. | RedBeardPT (2), , Texas does not count - explanation | | September 4, 2009 Nice spot for a beer in San Antonio. Food was okay, service was pretty good. Staff seemed very knowledgeble. Had a Maibock and a Pale while there, both good beers. Would definately make return trip next time I’m in San Antonio. | | SlothFroth (13), Katy, Texas | | May 30, 2009 Dec 8, 2008
Ambiance was unique with the bike shop upstairs. Located in an artsy part of San Antonio and a little tricky to find. They made their own soda which along with the bikes appealed to my son. The pork green chili rocked.
Beers tasted:
Wheathead - American wheat, basic, clean wheat beer. Good.
Golden - light lager - nice malt profile with light hop finish. Slight off taste in the nose at fist sip. Wet cardboard?
Pale Ale - Am. Pale ale - hop bitterness with light malt flavor. Hops pick up in the nose and give way to alcohol. Very refreshing well balanced pale ale.
Stout - foriegn stout? Full body creamy mouth feel. Sweet initial impression followed by coffee and chocolate. Bitter finish with a slight alcohol nose.
Jingle ale - spiced IPA - spices dominate aroma. No noticeable hop character in the flavor. Bitterness seems as if it comes from the large infusion of clove. This would be excellent with a warming alcohol effect and a stronger malt profile to balance the clove bitterness.
Texas Lambic - fruit lambic - very sour lambic. Big brett character dominates. Fruit is apparent but hard to identify. Excellent lambic overall. Nice to see a brewpub attempt this style and do it well.
| | Cavie (52), Fort Worth, Texas | | March 16, 2009 A little difficult to locate, especially if you are searching in the dark. It’s a bit off the main road, tucked behind the arts complex. Inside has a nice rustic feel. Jazz was playing over the speakers which set a great mood. Brew tanks are visible in the back and along the balcony. Had a smaller list of beers to choose from than in other brewpubs, but the quality was above average. Great food choices, I had the Chicken Friend Chicken which the waiter recommended to me. Good choice. Not sure if they had any other beer selections beyond their own. | | spaceycasey (10), , Texas | | January 11, 2009 Awesome atmosphere located in the arts district of San Antonio. Service was excellent with staff who seemed to know their stuff and were happy & friendly. A knock on selection as they only had 4 of their beers at the time, but all were solid. Food was delicious, I had the German plate. Good value. | | knightdr (12), Valrico, Florida | | November 20, 2008 At convention in San Antonio. Seemed like Blue Star was the only game in town for anything resembling craft beer. Bar and bike store in artsy district. Staff was very happy to talk beer and seemed to enjoy their job. Tried 4 beers, all were solid. Good atmosphere for relaxing and putting a few away. | | Headbanger (45), Aurora, Illinois | | September 10, 2008 I visited midday during the week so the place was pretty bare but received great service form the bartender and he answered any questions I had. The beers were not too bad. Had a sampler of their stuff. Didn’t eat. | airforce1 (9), Atascosa, Texas does not count - explanation | | May 14, 2008 Overall the beers arent too shabby and priced right. Nice little river runs outside, food is fair at best. | | fly (191), austin, Tejas, | | November 24, 2007 Went w/ friend and met up w/ Jason. We brought some beers and I was driving, so didn’t delve to deeply into theirs. I recalled as I pulled in parking lot that I had been there about eleven years ago just after they opened. Fair but limited selection. The Baltic porter is quite good. | bradmccarroll (2), San Antonio, Texas does not count - explanation | | November 3, 2007 A pretty cool place for a younger crowd. The first friday of every month there is a gigantic art gallery showing in the surrounding buildings so this place really gets packed with people, bands, and other entertainers. |
