| lithy (103), Knoxville, Tennessee | | July 28, 2009 A different selection from the downtown Nashville store. Their pizza oven is currently broken.... Other than that the beers were solid if a bit cold, they currently do casks but don’t do bottles. | Avengedpoet (6), Mesa, Arizona does not count - explanation | | July 8, 2009 Sought out and visited on vacation. Ambiance is certainly modern and clean, a bit yuppie, sure, but it is a refreshing change from the usual dank pub. Staff was friendly and attentive. The food was exceptional. The beer was above average. A couple winners in the bunch (London Porter, Isle of Skye Scottish). The beer sampler was a good variety and no duds in the bunch. I like their style of having as many seasonals/specials as they do regular beers, though I was disappointed that although their cask conditioned ales are everyday (how awesome is that?), they are only after 5:30 on weekdays, which was a real bummer. Their pizza oven is still broken after what seems like years. | | Butters (150), Virginia | | September 13, 2008 Beer Hawk is pretty much right on the mark. Yuppie modern atmosphere. Staff was friendly but our waiter didn’t know shit about beer. When I asked what he would recommend he responded an ale, despite all their beers being ales. I really did like the sampler platter of all 8 beers. Kinda small sample sizes, but not unreasonably priced. The food was good but pricy. | | BeerHawk (39), Huntsville, Alabama | | August 20, 2008 Visited for a mid-week lunch. Placed in a new plaza among lots of new business buildings so there were many business type there for lunch but still no waiting and fast service. Fresh, new, modern, business type setting so the ambiance takes a little hit. 4 regular taps and 4 special/seasonal taps available on this visit. Very similar food menu to the Nashville location so no let down there. Friendly and fast service. |
