| kseecs16 (141), Naperville, Illinois | | November 29, 2009 Pretty small joint with bar and dining in same space. Redolent aroma of barbecue is appetizing. Six beers on tap. Kitschy western theme. Small brewing setup visible through bar window. Staff was friendly on a slow night and seemed enthusiastic about the beer. | | Narnad (16), Wonder Lake, Illinois | | October 12, 2009 Visited the location on Oct 10, 2009. Lots of western decor type decorations. Table space is a bit limited but the time we were there it wasn’t a problem. Beers overall are a solid good with none of the brews in the category of "one and done". When we visited, we didn’t have anything to eat. Wait staff was very quick to help bring new beers and were fun to chat with. A very heavy smokey aroma is present from the BBQ place in the back of the building. Overall easy to find, clean, great service and an overall good place, one I want to get back to try out the food. | | topherh (13), Kearney, Missouri | | August 26, 2009 We went here on a Friday night in July. Light crowd. The beer was good as was the food. Server was very attentive and helped us out with keeping our two younger children happy with menu selections. | | Strykzone (40), Wood River, Illinois | | May 29, 2009 Stopped in on a Friday night. It is located right by St. Louis U. and Harris Stowe College. A cool place. Lots of pictures of buffalo hunting days with old indians and old west ads. Food was good. I had fish and chips and wife had salmon and brie. Both were good. Service was excellent with a very energetic waitress who took very good care of us. The beer was also good. I had the sampler which was about 6 small glasses of what they had on tap. We met the owner who told me they brew in small batches and rotate frequently. Two of the beers I had were not listed on this site. I will be back! | | esjaygee (103), Oak Creek, Wisconsin | | April 2, 2009 Reminded me of a college bar type atmosphere with random buffalo décor scattered about. Sampler and tasty pub chips were an excellent value. As most people have stated, the beer ranged from decent to pretty good and the waitstaff was friendly and answered my beer related questions. Six house beers were available on my visit. | | heemer77 (171), Savannah, Missouri | | February 23, 2009 The atmosphere was a little sterile, but the good beer cancels that out. I shared a decent appetizer with buffalo chile. The beers were above average to excellent. I was impressed and will definitely return when I can. The best brewpub I have been to in the St. Louis area. Solid. | | Apollo (10), | | February 3, 2009 Very small place with very solid beers. I am a big fan of the food. It is all beer friendly and people are very nice and helpful. Worth checking out. | | dm9831 (30), Monee, Illinois | | February 1, 2009 nice little place located near the university. on an early saturday evening, it was not really packed. i tasted the 6 house brewed beers they offered. they were all solid brews, if not spectacular. the staff seemed friendly and knowledgable. alswo, dave johnson, the master brewer must have thought i was sufficiently beer-geeky that he pulled a not-quite- readfy sample of his soon to be released RyePA for me to sample. a bit far from my hotel, so if i go back, i’ll need to hail a cab. | | BlackDonald (59), Boise, Idaho | | August 3, 2008 This is a cool place, that totally looks out of place in St. Louis from the inside. Looks like some place out in the middle of the Sonoran desert. It’s close to campus and has ample street parking. Big buffalo head hanging behind the bar observing its namesakes patrons. Also an old timey brass cash register. Has six beers with a rotating guest tap. The owner saw me taking notes as told me to make sure I come back in August for the release of their Belgian dubbel. Too bad I can’t make it. | | BeerandBlues2 (157), Colorado Springs, Colorado | | July 22, 2008 Cool hang-out near St. Louis University and just a mere 10 or so blocks from the nearest MetroLink stop. There is covered outdoor seating along with a small indoor section. There were only 3 house beers available at my visit and I did not try the food although, the menu looked appealing. |
