| j12601 (64), Poughkeepsie, New York | | November 23, 2009 Went here for some beers and snacks after the Night of the Funk. Perfect dive bar feel with everything all crammed into a long narrow hall. Dim lighting, and decor that wouldn’t have me surprised to see Genny Cream Ale on tap, or PBR cans and a crowd of ironic hipsters in trucker hats. Somewhat packed and on a late Friday night so I wasn’t overly surprised by the slightly slow service, but it was still fairly good. Vegetarian chili cheese fries were good and far more food than even two hungry drunks could get through. No crazy rare beers, but a nice selection of craft and a nice bottle selection that looks like it rotates fairly quickly. | | PilsnerPeter (95), Flushing, New York | | October 20, 2009 Stopped here after Night of the Funk 2009. Small, narrow- corridor like layout. Definitely a classic dive bar with the neon light kind of lighting. OK tap selection- nothing too special- just some standard craft offering. I ticked one while I was there. A decent bottle list as well- with some prices that seemed steep. This is a place that serves craft beer, but has a true dive feel to it. If I walked in without knowing, I would suspect they had two taps- Bud and Coors. Not really something to go out of the way for. Oh, and the Chili Burger I ordered had almost no chili on it- It seems like the cook smeared some chili paste on the bun. | | chriso (164), London, England | | October 16, 2009 [ Updated October 21, 2009 ] Narrow dive-y sort of place. Handy location (for me) means I have popped in a few times during my visit to Boston. Not the biggest tap list but a fair smattering of new stuff for me and a reasonably quick rotation. Quite extensive bottle list but I haven’t had to resort to that yet. Food is OK but not spectacular. Sitting at the bar I have found service to be attentive and reasonably friendly. Plus I have usually got chatting with other beer enthusiasts. Prices seem a little high for the sort of place it is. Also, the music can be too loud, with the impression that it is more for the benefit of the bar staff than the customers. That said I quite like the general vibe of the place. | | yemenmocha (63), Glendale, Arizona | | October 7, 2009 Good selection of craft beer, including imports. Sweet potato fries were tasty as well.
At first it is cute to see how this narrow bar is tucked into the side of a parking garage, but the lack of walking space and nasty bathrooms change your mind quickly. Somewhat dumpy/dirty inside.
Service was simply horrible with one server being responsible for the entire seating area excluding the bar itself. Whats that our server who passed us 4-5 times without acknowledging us or taking our order? Yep. | | Beese (50), Watford, England | | July 3, 2008 [ Updated September 5, 2008 ] Good enough beer bar, I imagine it can get pretty crowded at times, but we went in during the day when it was quite quiet. The beer selection was reasonable and considering I’d only been in the US for just over a week there was plenty I hadn’t had. The food’s good enough and the prices are fair. | killedge (7), Miami, Florida does not count - explanation | | January 16, 2008 Good selection but nothing too crazy. Food is pretty good. They have a Wheel O Beer for people who don’t know what they want to drink. | | NickVega (28), Eugene, Oregon | | August 18, 2007 One of my favorite places in Boston. The cafe in Cambridge is very nice as well and much larger. The owner, Max, is swell - knows about beer! ***wheel o’ beer*** | | notalush (165), Denver, Colorado | | June 3, 2007 It sucks but it doesn’t blow. | | beastiefan2k (108), Lawrence (formely NYC), Kansas | | June 2, 2007 "It sucks but it doesn’t blow." |
