September 21, 2009 Four guest ales on tap: Kelburn Red Smiddy, Kelburn Dark Moor, Deuchars IPA and Harviestoun Bitter & Twisted. Very good raw oysters. Sat at the bar and had nice conversation as well as recommendations from the barman and waiters. Loved the place. |

September 9, 2009 Decorated in Victorian style with big bar in the middle of the room. A bit sloppy waitress which managed to spill a whole pint of my beer on her colleague. Found just one new (Lia Fail). |

May 19, 2009 Loved this place. Great atmosphere, great crowd. Only suggestion would be that the staff behind the bar should know more about the beer they’re serving. Cask beers and real ales are rotated regularly, and staff should know a bit about the styles in order to encourage patrons to try a new product. |

December 8, 2008 Superb Victorian pub interiors. Oval, island bar serving four cask ales from Scottish breweries. Great food in a separate dining restaurant. Just around the corner from Guildford Arms. Visited with Finn and a few other Norwegians 12.11.2008. |

January 13, 2008 Been in twice in passing just because it has nice decor. And when i say nice decor i mean incredible. Beer is 3 caledonian beers so you only come in to see the amazing decor. |

September 2, 2007 Large pub with a big bar area and again a nice ceiling. Efficient staff had to deal with lots of customers towards the end of Edinburgh’s festival. Central and covenient location. Correct, not very large, but scottish and more than fair selection of ales in good condition. I would not call this a must, but its location make it very easy to reach in a pub crawl. |

April 6, 2006 Nice interior, very large bar, with a restaurant next to it. Selection is ok, but quite usual for UK pubs i have to say. Compared to belgian and dutch bars, they hardly have any variety in their beers, but bitters and lagers. |

September 9, 2005 [ Updated March 20, 2006 ] Atmosphere: Probably the best part about the place. Located directly next door to the Guildford Arms, down a small street/alley in the first street where new town begins. There is a circle shaped bar in the center, ringed with small tables and alcoves. The walls were covered with tiles in the shape of paintings. Didn’t appear to have a TV to pull away from the conversation. It is only a very small walk to the train station
Several tasty brews were on tap, including Caledonian and Dark Isle ales. Keg beer, real ale, and great service.
