| gerome (13), , France | | June 9, 2009 noisy pub trend many people, the beers are normal | | Bierkrug (87), Idar-Oberstein (in Pakistan), Germany | | December 20, 2008 Inside is a rumble jumble of raised booths with high tables, half-partioned off areas and a long bar snaking along one wall. It is the sort of fake 19th century tat to be found in crap circuit pubs the length and breadth of the UK. This German version is no worse and no better. Too dark, far too noisy and far too full. It has all the charm of a sixties tower block.
The beer is possibly even worse than the ambiance. Far too yeasty and very homebrew in taste. I could easily brew better myself. Not that the young trendies stacking the place out seemed to mind: they were slurping the stuff down by the pitcherful. I was grateful, at least, that the menu explained that the Braumeister Bier is supposed to be a marzen. I had been puzzling over the question as to what style this turgid, sweetish, amber liquid was supposed to be. | | JoeinUccle (138), Brussels, Belgium | | November 28, 2007 Old-fashioned upstairs pub near the main shopping and entertainment streets in Stuttgart. It’s a cozy, atmospheric place that can get crowded on weekday evenings. With respect, I can’t agree with the previous rater who said it was Irish-like. Definitely an attempt at southern German style here. Haven’t tried the food yet. The beers are good but not always consistent. Bottled versions are available to-go in various sizes. Regular beers include the helles, hefeweizen, and the Braumeisterbier, a Marzen that was my own favorite. Seasonals are a winter dunkle and Maibock. Fun place with nice prices. | dand2000 (3), Colorado Springs, Colorado does not count - explanation | | January 8, 2007 Irish like pub in down town Stuttgart, nice ambiance, very comfortable bar and stools. Outdoor environment is fun to people watch. They’ll sell you a mug too, I think for about 2 euro. Nice televisions to allow for watching sports. | | Rune (91), Tromsø, Norway | | May 5, 2006 Nice and central location in the pedestrian street Calwer Strasse. Visited early on a Monday afternoon (24.04.2006) with few people in the pub. Relaxing atmosphere. Friendly staff. The saisonbier was a malty and tasteful Majbock. |
