I start this rating by saying I will go back after renovations are finished. The bar was closed and they were operating from a portable bar with a few taps. Had the only good beer they had on tap, a GF WCIPA - served in a plastic Bud cup. Food was good, although the fish in the fish and chips was a bit Phallic looking. You gotta see this thing!

Great pub atmosphere. Ideal for any anglophile. Lots of space to relax and play darts and catch a game. Respectable taps and decent grub. A place I would frequent if I lived nearby.

The most amazing selection of local rarities that I have ever seen. Be prepared to pay handily for them, but the prices are not out of line for what you’re getting. The bartenders were very knowledgable and friendly. We didn’t eat here. There were a few fruit flies going after our beers and a bit of a frat house aroma but that’s the only drawback. We will return.

Really cool spot. Great bottle list. Not too much on tap but the bottle list more than made up for it. I cracked open a bottle of Red Poppy for a pretty reasonable price. I did not get a chance to try the food so I will have to update this rating when I go back. Really cool spot though.

Not a bad spot at all. I had some local brews, and had Old Speckled Hen on nitro. The food was good, and as I grew a bit of a buzz, a sweet young lady came in and wailed on the bagpipes. Quite surreal.

Fuckin A, this is what I’m talking about. Some place, middle of nowhere, the majority of people there have no clue...yet, they have an amazing bottle list. Actually, it makes sense since a no one knows what’s going on other than the buyer of the beers, the good beers sit there waiting for me to buy them. Sweet food too for all i know, i got the lamb vindaloo...hot as fuck as it should be...couldnt discern whether the base sauce of homemade or some purchased concotion...but it was fucking hot and damn good. Only problem i had was that I finally found a bottle of Older Viscosity and I rated it on a napkin and whilst in the restroom she took my napkin and trashed it. Other than that. Damn cool place. The waitress probably didnt know much about beer as she was a female and all, but she did put a good effort into pretending that she was quite knowledgeable...which when you are a female, is really the best you can do.

Churchill’s is a unique place in SD. It looks and feels like what an American would want an English Pub to look like! They have an OK draft list, but they usually have a killer seasonal/cask selection on the white board. There bottle list is also very impressive. It can get loud, and not everyone there is a beer fan (you get some party-animal types). The service is usually pretty good, some of the waitresses can ignore you if your not eating. I usually have the fish and chips, pretty standard. Great place to meet a friend or two for a cold one!

I’m not English but I can appreciate the British atmosphere. I must say that if I ever feel like watching soccer I know where to go, Churchill’s of course. Unfortunately, I don’t like English beers so roughly 1/3-1/2 of their taps are off my radar. They do have some pretty good local brews on tap though from the likes of Green Flash and Port. They also have a cask almost every day, if not every day. The owner Ivan seems like a cool guy and I’m sure if I lived up there (San Marcos) I would be involved with more of their special activities, crawls, various tours, and alcoholic what-not. Jenny, the female bar-tender there is great, she gives you that Norm!!! type of feeling by at least remembering what type of drinks you like for lunch in the middle of the week. The food is good too. The best part is that it’s cheaper than the Stone Brewery. You get an imperial pint for $6 max. Overall, I would say that Churchill’s is worth a visit at least every other week.

The best place to drink in North East San Deigo. Not quite as good as Obrien’s or Stone (because Stone and Obrien’s has more taps), but a little better than Pizza Port Carlsbad (which has very few bottles). OK food, but I haven’t tried that much. Small local bands were great (and beer related), but have been reduced for some reason. Extensive bottle list. Some staff is knowledgable, and there’s usually a beer geek drinking there.

I can’t believe this place hasn’t been reviewed yet; it’s pretty well known on the local beer scene. The service is great, the food decent standard pub selections, but the beer list is incredible. Where else can you get Irish nachos and a bottle of Allagash Curieux or Jolly Pumpkin La Roja? I highly recommend this place.
