| JoeTheYounger (20), California | | December 7, 2009 Went here about a week ago with DuffmanSW and laroja. We were the only ones there on a Friday late mid afternoon. The beer selection was great. They had two Stone casks that day. One was Ruination with Amarillo and Simcoe hops. The other was Levitation with centennial hops. I also had the Alaskan Brewing Baltic porter on tap. And we all went in on a bottle of Firestone 12 for only $30. Not bad for a bar price. The place was a lot of fun. They had an internet jukebox, pool tables, and shuffleboard. Kept us entertained for hours. | | elihapa (62), Honolulu, California | | September 1, 2009 Went here on a Monday night. A quiet little neighborhood setting, with an unassuming exterior. To be honest, the Daily Pint just felt like your good ’ol dive bar with a few more taps than usual. It wasn’t bad . . . just flawed in ways that made me uncomfortable. The good: nice tap list, good use of cask specialty beers, good bottle list. They care about their beers, as it seems. The bad: smells like dried booze, the crowd (at least when I went) was a bit goofy (think white trashy woman bellowing out "I’ll have your He-fi - way-zan!!!" in a drunken voice). I hate to knock Daily Pint for that alone though. Another downer is that they need another bartender on Monday nights. There is only one, a nice man but clearly overworked. It took my about 6 minutes to get one beer for my girlfriend and I to split, even though there wasn’t much of a crowd. That is unexceptable. Lastly, $7-8 for a pint of craft beer? In a dive bar setting??
A decent beer spot with a bunch of potential, but they DEFINITELY need to clean up their raggedy ends. | | m4rest88 (14), Beverly Hills, California | | June 17, 2009 Went here for my 21st birthday celebration with some close friends - bman1113vr being one of them. My first time here.
Not a bad place. Had some interesting beers in bottles there - firestone walker 12, and geuze girardin to name a few. Some bruery beers in bottles as well - Batch 1 and Black Orchard in particular.
They had Young’s Double Chocolate Stout on tap and that tasted amazing. Not the first time i tasted this beer, but it tasted amazing on tap.
One man working the bar - had to wait for a while to order drinks. Might want to add another bar tender on weekdays. Only negative thing about this place though.
Good selection of beer! | RedSox2004 (5), Pacific Palisades, California does not count - explanation | | June 12, 2009 Outstanding collection of beer and Scotch. Someday when I have a ride home I’ll look into some of the whiskeys. Great place to meet unpretentious beer lovers. Kind of small, and it’s probably always tough to get a spot at the bar. Pick the right time, though, and I bet it can be a real nice experience. | | ajm (163), Los Angeles, California | | February 2, 2009 They always keep the taps interesting and local whenever possible. Maintaining 4 casks is just outstanding. For beer consumption, the place strikes me as small, but I like that when at the bar I don’t have to deal with the pool players, especially when they are all drinking Corona and Bud and barking at the poor bar maid. Very English feel - haven’t felt like this since the Horse Brass Pub. | | BMan1113VR (115), Los Angeles (and Dallas), Texas | | December 23, 2008 A locals bar with pool tables. All about Whiskey and cask ales. 3 hand pumps. Nice people working there. Parking is behind or on one of the side streets. Didnt have any food. Obviously this place has two other competitors in Santa Monica...FO and Library Ale House. This has a much better bottle selection than both of those. Jolly Pumpkin, Lambics, Bruery, Lost Abbey, and Firestone 12 to name a few. Tap selection is better than Library Ale House but slightly weeker than FO. Good, but dingy place. |
