I didn’t eat, but the food looked pretty good. Beer selection was modest but all varieties were solid Belgian, German, or microbrews such as Hoppin Frog, Celebrator, Stone, Allagash, etc.

What can I say about this place? How about, I’d like to live here. “Cheddar” is doing his place up right with full deli cheese/meats, sandwiches, bakery, wine cellar and small but flavorful 6 tap handles. They have a pretty nice bottle selection too so you can take some home. I plan to go back often. Did I mention the food? YUM!

Nice place. Got a ny strip steak sandwich. Came with chips with blue cheese drizzled on them. Our waitor was worthless. Had no idea what was on draft and when he did find out what was on draft, he didn’t even mention guava grove (which was the only beer I knew they had). When I asked about guava grove he told me not to get it becauise it tasted like rotten fruit. He also fucked up the order. The food was decent and the place was nice and clean. Big sandwiches.

ill skip doing a description as it already been covered by others. while their beer menu is pretty good with a lot of good options, the night i went they were out of 4 of the 6 hefes listed. strike one. also, the pricing is rather odd, with bottle Unibroue products running just $3, but Chimay on tap is $9? strike two. and the acoustic duo playing downstairs were way too loud for the size of the place as well. those gripes aside, this place has a lot going for it. good food, friendly staff, some beer at better than average prices and a more upscale family-oriented clientele. so all in all, a nice place and worth the few hassles.

Great spot! First time there was for the CCB event. Bottom floor is a very thorough deli with 2 (?) cases full of great beer. Tons of fresh baked bread, excellent cheese selection. Upstairs is a upscale bar-like environment. 6 taps this time with all Cigar City, but i hear they always keep 6 nice beers on tap. Menu had a big assortment of sandwiches, bar food and other interesting items. I ordered a big sandwich (not to be confused with the BIGGER sandwich size) and it was excellent and came with home made chips drizzled with blue cheese. I thought the price was a bit much until it came to the table. When you see the size, you know the worth. Service was pretty good, definitely friendly. Only gripe is parking is lacking, but other than that, hit this place up when in tampa.

Wow. I was blown away by Datz. The ambiance is consistent with upscale South Tampa. The have plenty of beer in the downstairs coolers. I remember seeing some awesome Weyerbacher, Stone, St. Somewhere, and plenty of English, and a few Belgians sprinkled in. I am glad I got there early because the parking was tiny for a place that was hosting lots of people. Service was slow to begin with, but once he got his rhythm, he was awesome. The food, the food: my biggest problem as a vegetarian is great beer and no food. NOT A PROBLEM HERE! The Roasty Toasty was amazing and the chips were incredible. Food was a bit pricey, but I am convinced that I got what I paid for. If it wasn’t so very far from me I would be there weekly.

Great Tampa establishment. Interesting place deli and beer store downstairs with a bar and seating area on the 2nd level. Take-away bottle selection looked pretty good. The bar upstairs was very nice but small. I was there for a special event so all I saw were Cigar City taps which was fine by me. The menu pretty large, I only saw sandwiches but I may of missed something. Menu is very creative but expensive for Tampa ($9.50\cold sandwich and chips) and everything sounded good then I got the pastrami and it was terrible, unforgiveable for a Jewish deli IMO. Overall nice place with a horrible parking problem.

Love me some Datz! I live nearby and am grateful to finally have a place in S. Tampa to stop by for a good brew or two; at least 2-3 times a week. The parking situation is herendous and they have experienced growing pains with a young staff. I always try to sit at the bar, Lori is an awesome bartender, the beer guys are great as well. Food is steller!

Great food and an excellent selection of beer on tap. The bar staff were attentive and knowledgeable and happy to pour samples and service was quick. Though I didn’t get a chance to shop, the selection of bottled beer, wine, and food seemed impressive. I’d rate this as a "must stop" for anyone enjoying beer in this area. Update--29 Jun 2009. I hadn’t really read through the beer menu on my last visit, but did this time. They charge retail prices for their bottled selections! They really have an awsome array of bottled beers, and when you consider they cost no more than you’d pay at a good beer retailer, it makes this place that much better!

stopped by with ibrew2or3. How did I ever miss this place in south Tampa? Looks small from the front, inside is huge, spacious, classy, and a good folk atmosphere. Amazing deli food all around, amazing pastry. 1st floor dedicated to the beer and wine, with plenty of bottles to go. Huge choice of cheese, cakes, pastries, sandwiches. Do not miss the staff, friendly and helpful and really supporting everything local. This place is an asset to the south Tampa area. Even if not going for a beer, they will have anything to satisfy your thirst and craving.
