| beckstein | This was the first place I started going to when I moved to Hoover a year ago. Not sure this place qualifies as a beer bar. It’s a decent location, but just not my thing. I think it’s been cleaned up recently and may be under new management. It’s improving. Staff is not the greatest.

kseecs16 | On a Thursday night this was a loud bar, busy, but not crowded. I was content to sit at the bar watching ESPN in HD. Their selection was large, but really only had a few really good beers. Their list of bottles was sadly out dated, and I had to ask for a glass with my beer, and all I could get was a pint glass. If they put a little more effort into their selection and beer service would be a great place. My friend was drinking cocktails and they made them strong, which is good. A good bar, but just an okay bar for beer drinking.

punkeedo | This is a fun joint to hang out in, if you’re with a group of friends. If you’re looking for a place to talk, this is not it (unless it’s like a Tuesday night, when it’s actually much tamer). During the weekends, it’s very loud and packed. Usually quite dark inside. They make great mixed drinks, and they have a nice draught selection. Not bad.

legion242 | Not too much to look at. Some hot Goth girls sitting outside. Selection sucks, but that isn’t their fault. Bartender friendly as hell.

CaptainCougar | For Birmingham Alabama, this place isn’t half bad. Of their 18 taps only 4 or 5 were complete swill. Had a few decent beers from Anchor, Weihenstephan, and Sierra Nevada. The bottles are kept in little ice bins in the bar top that run the length of the bar. Nice pub atmosphere but gets crowded later at night.
