Pretty classy brewpub as far as brewpub’s go. First time around I was let down by the beer selection they were out of the Velvet Ale and Oatmeal Stout. The Nut Brown was pretty good. More recently I was there and had their IPA which had a wonderfully strong pine aroma with a big hoppy finish. Also met the brew master who was very friendly and happy to chat. Before I had the IPA I was boarder line disappointed with the place, but the IPA in my mind redeemed them.

Easily the best of the DC brewpubs. Classy atmosphere, with terrible service if you are just getting drinks. However, the prices are absurd... eight 4oz+ samplers for $7. The beers are all pretty solid too, except that horrid BA nitro oatmeal stout. Yuck.

classic bar for older guys who like jazz and tradition. Decent but not on the edge beer. Top professional staff, who are friendly at a buisness not passion point. Basement and bathrooms are a 5 minute or so special elevator ride down. Good sized bar, a decent number of tourists at the tables. No patio available. No guest taps, just about 7 of their own, and outside of the bourbon aged which is overated, nothing to define the edge as its conservative DC. Good as a stopover waiting for the worst traffic on the continent to clear.

Stopped in here a few times while I was in town. Dark wood paneled room with lots of glass and shiny brass. I didn’t eat while I was here but the beers were okay. Nothing really spectacular (although the Spring Bock was surprisingly tasty). Enjoyable though. A very surly bartender the first night... someone much friendlier the next day. OK.

The previous reveiw pretty much covers it. I had a great steak, service was spot on and there beers were tasty. Yes, it’s a little high end, but look where it is.

Visited July 06 during the RBSG: A high end steak place meets with a brewery. I walked in, and walked straight upstairs, past all of the clothed tables. Upstairs there’s a low key pool bar with nice comfortable seating. A nice selection of their beers, minus a few of the higher rated offerings. The staff was helpful in getting me tastes of everything. Higher priced, but decent.

January 2006. The layout is awkward enough to be intriguing. I enjoyed both stouts, and now wish I had paid more attention to the other beers. Bar staff was willing to discuss the stouts.

My experiences here have varied from great to disappointing, and it usually hinges on the service. The beers are pretty good, and you’ll find what you need to match with your meal. There are usually a couple of interesting seasonals, besides the popular bourbon stout. I’ve had a couple of awesome steaks here.

Went here back in July of 2006 at the RBSG. Pretty nice ambiance, but I felt a little out of place in shorts and a t-shirt. Selection was ok as were the beers. Nothing that stands out, but a few decent examples.

had lunch here today with the fam. the service was a bit slow but the waiter was cute so i let it slide. the food was good. i had the beer sampler. most of the beers were good and i liked the fact that it had a board that the beers came on so i could tell what i was drinking. it was awesome.
