62 Great view of the Auckland harbor. Trendy, packed, touristy. Their beer was pretty good, there were a number of quality guest taps. Service was slow and a little inattentive, but I'm finding that's common in New Zealand where you don't tip. Park in the garage across the street, it's congested down here. |
60 Quite a cavernous restaurant right on the wharf with kids running to and fro and a large balcony outside, loud music, slow service. Pizza is their thing and they are offered by the foot and pretty good. Beers are reasonably well made but standard and certainly not exceptional. As expensive as anything else in New Zealand. Good simply because it's right on the tourist circuit. |
64 'Brewpub' right down on the waterfront. Setting is beautiful with views out over the water, though getting a seat with that view is nigh impossible outside of work hours. Always very busy, and the vast majority of the people don't seem to be there for the beer (hence 'brewpub'). Own beers are fine from the few I've tried, and they've started doing a few one off specials. Food is good. There's bowling if you want, though only two lanes and they've always been in use when I've been there. Service can be very slow, as there's an extensive cocktail menu so quite often there's four bar staff stood there with shakers while you wait to order a pint. Also a number of DB taps, which I find somewhere between infuriating and perplexing. Nice enough, and I've been a few times and will go again, but I do always wish it was a bit more beer focussed. |
