| mcdav2154 (10), , Germany | | October 20, 2009 Not a fun place to go to if you like rating beers since they have only one option. If you don’t like this kolsch than you don’t like kolsch beers. As fresh as it gets. We didn’t eat there so I can’t talk about that except the food looked pretty good. Service was o.k. but we had a hard time getting our beer. I won’t go back again since that was as good as it gets with the beer. | | rosenbergh (33), Helsinki, Finland | | September 17, 2009 Very busy, lively and noisy place. I guess the location by the Dom is one major factor. At least inside it’s quite food orientated. But I managed to get couple of Kölsches. | | fly (191), austin, Tejas, | | September 14, 2009 Was SO happy to have a beer after climbing to the top of the Dom. If ever you do it, you will likely know just how I felt. | | Immy (88), Virginia Beach, Virginia | | August 6, 2008 Poor service, a gruff server, overcrowded and a middling kolsch does not make for a pleasant experience. Whatever. | cluny6 (2), Cambridge, England does not count - explanation | | July 17, 2008 Very nice, traditional place. Cologne had the shit bombed out of it so there are not many places like this. I did not try the food but sat outside and had a few kolsch. The beer is average at best but the ambience is great. | kolschbeer (1), , England does not count - explanation | | July 5, 2008 On a warm summers night this place is cracking.
Great atmosphere, great service.
I’ll guarantee you’ll love it.
Do make sure if youve finished drinking place your drip mat on top of your glass otherwise it’ll keep coming.
Not exactly a problem though is it?
| | pivnizub (273), Bochum, Porúří, Germany | | May 14, 2008 Giant, but still typical Brauhaus. The beers come unfortunately from mock-wooden barrels and are not the best, compared to the other Cologne brews. Nevertheless a good place for a quick stop, because the Hauptbahnhof and the Dom are very near. | | donrajin (47), Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina | | January 4, 2008 [ Updated September 15, 2008 ] I think this is one of the best beer places I visited in Koln. The beer was perfect and the roast was great. Service was prompt and I did not have to wait long for my next beer. The beer was so good I am now on a quest to recreate it in my homebrewery!! | | Goldorak (110), Montreal, Quebec | | September 25, 2007 As you enter, the Kolsch barrel awaits you sitting on it’s stand, a Köbes standing by for another to show up with his empty crown to fill. 3 Floors with different ambiances. Going downstairs you get to see the Bierkeller, the souvenir stand that sells everything from T-shirts to keg stands and even the actual faucets they use for the kegs. Our waiter was exactly what we expected from a Köbes, not a very chatty guy - he didn’t speak english anyway - but efficient and to the point, so in no time I had a stange filled with the local brew. I certainly did enjoy it, in fact my first one I downed almost immediately, but it wasn’t my favorite in town. Obviously, selection is pretty limited, however my girlfriend did get a glass of wine, although a pretty generic one. Our food was good, fairly large portions and well presented. Prices are higher than everywhere else. But it’s still well worth checking out, and the Beer is good. | | Rastacouere (475), Montréal, Quebec | | June 9, 2007 Old, dark basement that feels like you’re entering history. A nice setup. Obviously being so close to the cathedral, the patrons were mostly a bunch of tourists (so was I). The Kölsch is frankly thinner and less tasty than most, but being right by the Hoptbanhof, you may want to stop by anyway. |
