| stchloe (19), Portland, Oregon | | August 4, 2009 Its like this big old hangar and definetly rocks the beer hall feeling. Our waitress was super duper nice, she kept urging us to get more beer but was really fun and nice about. A good tap selection and and an on deck section. There are games too. Its cold in the winter and hot in the summer, and the prices leave much to be desired. Pricey pints. | | Rastacouere (475), Montréal, Quebec | | July 25, 2009 This new place feels just like it’s been started by the owners of Barcade in Brooklyn. They are not brewing yet, but the equipment is there. A large and spacious place with picnic tables, arcade machines in a corner, an industrial feel and a relaxed, comfortable feel. A place I’d gladly spend an evening in. While the beer list is not the most extensive, it offers some nice opportunities and I like the large ’coming next’ section on the board even though it tricked me at first. We came by very late, so it was not very packed, but the service was prompt and friendly. I’ll definitely visit again when I’m back in Portland. | | CharlesDarwin (144), Point Judith, Rhode Island | | June 3, 2009 This place was alright. It was convenient to the Lucky Lab, but I’m not sure I’d run back. The prices seemed high and the selections seemed not to be highlights. They seemed more like a run of average fare and nothing particularly special, despite the fact that there was a wide selection. I really didn’t approve of their chalkboard which had terrible information design, since I couldn’t tell what beers were from what breweries and what styles they were or how much I was paying for them. Argh. | | Beardface (35), Eugene, Oregon | | May 11, 2009 So far this has been my worst bar experience in Portland. The place is huge, but it was also packed to the gills with the type of fake hipster sumbitches that I despise with every atom of my being. We waited for quite some time to find seating for the 4 of us but wound up only grabbing 2 seats at the bar. The hushpuppies we had took forever, were tiny and there were not many of them. They were also overcooked and quite spendy. The beers we had (Rogue Old Crusty and Russian River Salvation among them) were delicious, but also a tad overpriced. I would probably never give this place another shot, especially now that they’re owned by Rogue. | | leems (27), Portland, Oregon | | May 9, 2009 I went here with several friends and it was packed, I mean completely. There were several groups of people standing around waiting to grab tables. We waited 10 minutes to find 2 seats at the bar for 4 people. The service was slow (but it was busy) but also fairly rude. The beer selection was pretty good, there were several new things to try. We had a couple pub food things, they were almost burnt, small portions, and way over priced. I had high hopes for this place but was bitterly disappointed. I will think about trying again on an off night or earlier time but maybe not. | | kmweaver (113), Sebastopol, California | | November 18, 2008 Significantly sized bar in Portland with good food, solid tap selection (including Bear Republic Racer X), and decent service, but I think this visit definitely paled compared to our earlier stop at Horse Brass. More of a newer, decent beer bar without any sort of authentic sense of place - but there really aren’t many bars that can follow Horse Brass well. Good stuff on tap, minimal bottle selection, and solid veggie burgers at a reasonable price. Worth a stop if you’re in the area, as they seem to tend to have something cool on tap. | | after4ever (126), Brier, Washington | | November 16, 2008 [ Updated November 17, 2008 ] Cool reclaimed beat-up old building, turned into a thriving little pub. We saw it on its very last night of independence before being assimilated into Rogueness, which it is as of now. Place tries way to hard to be cool, way too hard to impress, with a kafrillion little custom fabricated touches: some decorative, some functional, all feeling costly. Fortunately, the beer prices stayed fair. And with super high-ceilings, tons of good selections on draught, and plent of space to spread out, it stays fun in spite of its over-eagerness. | | boFNjackson (57), Portland, Oregon | | October 27, 2008 Really cool place. I’ve been getting sick of the warehouse/garage aesthetic a lot of pubs have, but the green dragon pulls it off. The bar is beautiful and an amazing selection of beers (mostly micro, but some specialty imports). Service was great, I was always asked to be helped as soon as I’d approach bar, and while I was being served other bartenders were always asking if I needed service. It’s accessible to get to and worth the visit. | | troopie (40), | | August 30, 2008 Pub in former warehouse. I admit I hadn’t gone there because of that. I don’t care for cold draughty drinking places. But I was in the area, and decided to try it out. Service was slow, I had to go to the bar to place an order, and I put that down to the fact they seemed understaff. Service was friendly, and knowledgable. Food was better than what I expected, and wasn’t overly expensive. | hefegrizzly (2), Oregon does not count - explanation | | August 27, 2008 Went to this place on a Sunday night, so it wasn’t packed, but had a decent crowd considering. Bartender was great, fast with service and real considerate. The darts were also actually in good condition, which is surprising at many bars. The beer selection was decent with the highlight being a nice eisbock. |
