October 12, 2009 pretty busy mid day. Decent amount of casks. Dark Star was particularly good. Pretty tight fit but worth seeking out |

September 25, 2009 Visited mid-afternoon when it wasn’t too busy. An interesting range of ales were on offer with a few rarieties from the likes of WJ King. My pint of Sambrooks was served in top condition. The bar maid was very friendly too. An all round excellent pub - in my opinion, definitely the best in central London. |

September 13, 2009 A really cosy place with some well kept and good quality cask ales on offer. They usually have a number of guests on at any one time and they also stock a vast array of British ciders. The service is very friendly and whilst the pub is not the most spacious you’ll find, it still remains a comfortable place to have a drink. Well, at least on the occasions that I’ve been there. |

September 24, 2008 The best pub in London, in my view. Faultless, friendly service and the ales are always in perfect condition. Permanently busy but never overcrowded. Sausages are made on a griddle behind the bar - the perfect companion to a pint. A textbook example on how to run a real pub in a tourist honeypot. |

September 11, 2008 The best pub in the centre of London where I have been. A good place to follow traffic and chat with locals. Real ales come from not so big breweries (2.8.2008). |

February 9, 2006 [ Updated February 10, 2006 ] Hidden away in a "back street" in Covent Garden but within easy walking distance of many attractions and other pubs, restaurants and bars. A small narrow pub, with the bar to the left almost occupying the length of the pub. Timothy Taylor Landlord is served here, which is all I normally buy here as it is great. Black Sheep is on tap and the last time I visited (end of Jan 06) a guest ale was on tap. The usual pilsners are available. The pub itself gets very busy in the evening, most notably at the weekend. Staff are very friendly and I have heard the sausages are special. A very friendly pub, both bar tenders and punters alike. |
