14 reviews for Heartland Brewery (Radio City/51st St.)
| CUJO (19), Brooklyn, New York | | October 13, 2009 Right around the corner from the office, what more do you want?! The food was average, service was fast, friendly and knowledeable. The beers were average, but nicely displayed and offerend in flights. The place has a mcro feel, almost like a TGIF or Chili’s... overall, not bad. | | Maltajo (19), TARRYTOWN, New York | | May 8, 2009 51st St. NYC Baby! Had the afternoon to do some tastings and tried them all. I think I liked 85% of there offerings.
Right after lunch and it got quiet at the bar so the service was great! Go and enjoy. | | danmalleck (12), | | January 3, 2009 Like a sports bar with its own beer selection, this place was desperately tring to convince people that it is a brew pub through signs on the windows, which gave me a bad feeling. Went in on Jan 1 evening, at dinner time, which did not bode well. Lots of families with kiddies. Poor bartender was run off his feet. Got a flight of six house beers plus one seasonal. they have two options for flights: either you get the normal flight with the six main beers, or the "seasonal" which allows you to have the normal flight plus one of the two seasonals. How stupid. Why can I not have both seasonals, huh? Anyway, the beer was mediocre at best. The stout was good, but the pale ale was sad, the red was crappy, the lager was middle of the road, my gf and I disagreed on the merits of the seasonal (red nose or something like that) which I liked for the Christmas spice but she did not) we also disagreed on the wheat beer: I thought it was okay, but she was not a fan. But then again, this is N | | nramsburg (15), New York, New York | | November 27, 2008 For a midtown brewery, Heartland has a decent selection and, hey, at least they brew it themselves. Some of the wheat and summer offerings tend to run towards the more accessible side of the spectrum.
The spaces are somewhat sterile, but clean and well-lit. It’s basically what you’d expect if Ruby Tuesday’s did a brew pub.The locations of the franchise belie any hint of edginess at Heartland (Union Square, Times Square, Seaport, etc.). Every beer is drinkable and above average, if a bit safe.
| | jredmond (37), New Jersey | | June 12, 2008 Went to the one located under UBS - seemed like everyone was there after work. Some great beers on tap, and great service from the bar tender. | | eaglefan538 (90), Wilmington, Delaware | | April 24, 2008 Not a bad place, not a standout either, though. Stopped in for lunch w/ my son on a weekday (odd, not open at 11AM for some reason), enjoyed a sandwich and ran a few of their beers. Pricey, as is beer and life in the Big City, service was rather slow, the beer was ok, and the food decent. Sure beat going to the American Girls’ place w/ wife and daughters. | | rlgk (80), Vårgårda, Sweden | | March 10, 2008 Average beer, didnt try the food. Nice selection to be a brewpub. I would not mind visiting again, but I wouldnt cry if I miss it... | | yobdoog (92), Woodridge NY, New York | | February 29, 2008 I stopped in because it was an area I am not in a lot. Similar as the others. Friendly staff and good beer. Recommended to go with friends, large place and fun. Great after work spot. | | Derek881 (26), Frederick, Maryland | | September 28, 2007 I stopped in at the brewery on my business trip to kill some time. It was pretty busy for a Thursday night, an didn’t set itself apart from other places in my opinion. The service was so-so, it took me awhile to get a beer, and I wish I had known the larger sizes were available at such a better value. Their beer selection was pretty good with a nice mixture of choices on draft, and an option to sample them all in 5 oz servins. I did not try the food. Overall it was a pretty nice place considering it’s in the middle of Manhattan. | n49921 (4), does not count - explanation | | July 15, 2007 Go for the beer. Its NYC, you can get better food. Beer is worthwhile, with a lot of selection for a brewpub. Good place afterwork (any location). Just not much seating. |
