| dkachur (114), Charlottesville, Virginia | | September 29, 2009 Surprised I never rated this place. One of my favorites. It’s a winery that focuses on fruit wines and meads. The mead is generally very good, and they have a good variety with a straight mead, two cysers, a pyment and several fruited meads. Located about a mile off of 151 in Nelson County, about 5 minutes from Devil’s Backbone. Typical wine tasting room with a nice, large patio outside. Beautiful area. The people are friendly. Small fee to try the meads. Prices are on the high side of reasonable. If you like mead, this is definitely worth a stop. | | phukktifano (12), Richmond, Virginia | | May 27, 2009 Google maps will send you on a lovely tour of the mountains to find this place but its well worth the trip. A family owned winery the current owner also makes some very nice mead. Though the most award winning wines and meads are often not available in store the tasting is a wonderful way to try several interesting blends. | | maniac (90), Richmond, Virginia | | January 21, 2009 Not far off the path between Devil’s Backbone and Blue Mountain. This is a winery, but they make several meads and a cider and perry. They have a small sampling room. Sampling costs $2 which is counted towards a purchase. Friendly people and fairly tasty mead. |
