| eManu (22), Brussels, Belgium | | October 23, 2009 This place looks really nice, but saddly that’s all there is about it. The service is bad, and when I wanted to try their brown beer I was told NO. They say they make their own beer there, then I wanted to try the amber, and no more also, all there was left was the blonde. And it was not good. Please guys, this is Belgium. Who is the Boss here????
Have anyone else running this place and its a gold mine. | | fly (191), austin, Tejas, | | September 15, 2009 Best thing it has going for it was location and proximity to my hotel room. Selection? Not great. View? Good. | | Beerlando (43), Orlando, Florida | | September 3, 2009 Brewpub located on the edge of the very touristic Grand Place square. This place has "cheeseball tourist trap" written all over it. Though the decor is nice inside, the beer pretty much sucks, especially by Belgian standards, and the service isn’t much better. We didn’t eat because the menu, typical of the area, looked mundane and sloppily composed. They carry a few other brews, Orval for example, at grossly out-of-whack asking prices. I’m sure this multi-level locale is packed with tourists during the busy times, but purists should be forewarned to spend your time elsewhere. | | altonbrownd (77), Amsterdam, Netherlands | | August 30, 2009 Easy to find place on Grand Place. Very reasonable taster of EUR 8 with healthy portions of the 4 brews on tap. But was not all that impressed by the beers though. | | zdk (24), New York | | July 12, 2009 Enjoyed the location immensely, but the beer wasn’t too impressive and a bit pricey (for the quality). Was worth it for the ambiance though. | | zanfa11 (10), , Italy | | July 5, 2009 nice place but very bad beers, i’m not sure they are good for humans... | CapedBrewsader (4), Brasschaat, Belgium does not count - explanation | | October 6, 2008 The service wasn’t great. Some of the food was ok, but some wasn’t. All the beers were both under-attenuated and infected. Great building though and obviously a kick ass location. I wish they made the beer at least halfway decent. Such a big let down for Belgian beer. | | mabel (134), Toronto, Ontario | | September 27, 2008 Visited late on a Thursday evening in February, this brewpub is in such a perfect location you would think they would follow it up with some kick-ass beer. Alas, no, the beer is sadly lacking in interest value, despite it’s locale, but the service was helpful and friendly. We didn’t try any food there, just a sampler. It’s a place where 30-something locals might gather for a mildly rowdy evening, listening to some loud funky music and chillin’ in the square. Interesting to visit. | | gary07734 (23), , England | | June 4, 2008 This place is pretty interesting, in amongst the bar are various pieces of brewing kit where they make their own beer. The home brew is available in tasters or by the glass, but sometimes this runs out, when we turned up they had a blonde and a tripel, but switched a kriek for the dubbel which had sold out.
The atmosphere is quite cramped and very smokey, the prices are quite high (it is on Grande Place after all) but worth a try just for the novelty of the home brews. Probably I would only stay for a home brew then go elsewhere. | | bhensonb (292), Woodland, California | | June 1, 2008 Not a huge selection - 4 of their beers, and a few bottles. In the morning we were the only ones, and we got a fair exposition of what was going on. Like the tripel was not finished yet. Descriptions of the biers. In the afternoon it was busy, but we talked them into a plate that required a departure from the menu. It is a bit expensive, but the location is that. Very good atmosphere. The music started setting up as we were leaving tonight. |
