July 31, 2009 Discovered this place one street south of the Piazza del Popolo in Rome. Its a small little German themed restaurant that is mostly in the basement in a small side street. Nice interior decor with german feel. Also some seating outside on the street in the shade. Menu is pretty large but decently expensive, probably due to the location in a touristy area. I only ordered a few small appetizers but they tasted very good and went well with the beer. I think they had about 9-10 beers on tap, all German products, and most seemed to be Paulaner owned, but I could be wrong about that. May have had more in bottle as well but I didn’t ask. Service was good and quick. Overall, I’d say this is a good place if you are getting sick of Italian food and wine and are in the area. By the time I had gone here I had been in southern Europe for 2 weeks and wanted homecooking and good beer. Worth a stop if you’re in a similar situation, but by no means a beer mecca or worth going out of the way for. |
