| jrob_21 (42), Atlanta, Georgia | | September 2, 2008 Great service on both sides of this easy to find store. Swung by here last weekend while in town for a wedding. Selection was great and complete with locals like Yazoo and Regionals like Schafly, Bluegrass and some other things not distributed further south like Boulevard. Let me break their six packs which totally made my day. Also had some pre-mixed sixers by style if you are interested in that. Awkward layout but the service and selection would keep me going back here. | nqualls (6), Tennessee does not count | | August 17, 2008 Wandered into this place after finding it on RB. Several of the other reviewers have hit the point on the head. The beer side has the same selection, at roughly the same prices as does Frugal MacDoogal’s and J. Barleycorn’s. The liquor side had several things that neither of the other stores had. Prices were average to high, but that is typical of Nashville. Worth a trip to get some different beers at this location. | | beerguy101 (43), Newark, California | | May 29, 2008 Despite being a little easier to find, I don’t think that Midtown has the selection that Frugals does. They don’t have anywhere near the selection of singles and the beer on the liquor side is in a awkward place right next to the windows. That said they did have stuff that Frugals doesn’t so it is worth a trip to both. | | SpringsLicker (82), Tennessee | | August 3, 2007 The same stuff here is at all of the other stores in town. Another place where the beers are too close to the front window. | | allfreej (45), Louisville, Kentucky | | February 13, 2007 Nice selection, reasonably priced. Staff was friendly, but not knowledgeable. The best bet for purchasing decent beer in Nashville. | | decaturstevo (55), decatur, Tennessee | | December 2, 2006 [ Updated December 5, 2006 ] Good selection of big beers. Had a few singles to choose from. Not many Stones to choose from but not there fault they said they will take all the distributer will give them when he will, which isn’t often or much. My only problem they had some odds and ends bottles that they would not sell as singles for some reason. The guy just said nope we can’t sell that as a single. I don’t know what was going on with it. Re-rate went to the 5% side the next day a huge selection of beers the best I’ve seen in Tn by far. Overall it is a pretty good place. | | acrdz (538), Boulder, Colorado | | August 12, 2006 Very good beer store in Nashville. On the "right hand side" where most of the beer is located, I could not find any singles, but when I asked the clerk if we could split the 6-packs he obliged, which was a good decision because I would have bought 1 6-pack otherwise, but instead I boght about 30 individual bottles. Good selection, I even found some things from Colorado and Maine that I hadn’t had, and the Terrapin was nice to finally get ahold of. Very close to Blackstone Brewery. | | illinismitty (200), Nashville, Tennessee | | May 8, 2006 [ Updated March 26, 2007 ] Located near dowtown Nashville, it’s your typical split beer/liquor store. Lately, they are getting the new beers before the other stores in the area...and they are getting more of it. For example, they got 7 out of the 9 cases of Stone RIS. So I say you need to hit this one if you are in town. The liquor store side carries Stone, Terrapin, Great Divide, North Coast, DFH, Left HAnd, to name a few. However, some of the sixers are stored right in the window!!!! WTF. At least the good stuff is protected from sunlight. I am a local, and I hit this place and Frugal, as they are not too far apart. Frugal is a tad cheaper, but Midtown sometimes has beers that Frugal does not carry (like Great Divide). The liquor side staff is friendly and shares enthusiasm for beer, even though they don’t sell a lot of it. Beer store side has pretty much the same selection as Frugal (see my review for the lines they carry), but they do not break sixers or sell singles. Don’’t expect to find any rarities in TN. | | StewardofGondor (122), Washington Heights - Milwaukee, Wisconsin | | March 16, 2006 Nice place near downtown with a friendly guy working the counter who let me break up sixers. Landed a bunch of Highland 12-oz. beers and some Thomas Creek, including a new doppelbock, so that only helps to make me smile. I’d like to think that this is probably as good as it gets in Nashville. | | Beer_Hawk (35), Murfreesboro, Tennessee | | March 6, 2006 Was in this place mid-day in the middle of the week and the staff was more interested in restocking and dusting shelves than answering questions. Great selection (for TN) on both sides. First time I’ve seen any Highland from NC in mid-TN. Found a 2003 Rogue Old Crustacean tucked in the back of one of the shelves and picked that up. They did have some different stuff than J. Barleycorn’s. Prices are comparable for those that both carry. | View Page : 1 2
