| Rune (91), Tromsø, Norway | | September 27, 2009 During my visit in early September I was very well treated. The girl doing the service seemed to have fair enough beer knowledge, and I was spontaneously offered a sipper of some of their guest beers. The potentiality of beers on taps is about 20 – eight of them were in active use. The choice of bottled beers is both impressive and interesting. Their house ale, called Svea IPA, was very much to my liking. Cosy and enjoyable place in the city centre of Stockholm (visited 03.09.2009). | | oh6gdx (93), Vasa, Finland | | April 23, 2009 Visited in early March 2009. A nice and cosy place, with not as many beers in stock as the other Monks, but a nice selection of taps and also lots of Monks own brews around. The staff at the moment (young guy with black hair) was very serviceminded and served us beer even though he was in the middle of a lunchrush more or less alone downstairs. He did apologize a few times I went to place an order as he was busy with food delivery, later he came to the table asking what next. As lunchtime was ending he also came to the table and told us about many other good beer places around in Stockholm, which is quite rare for pubworkers to do. A place that made you feel welcome. Located in a good place, which means not too hard to get to. Clean and fresh toilets is also a big bonus. Faster service than on Monks Wallingatan. | | gnoff (127), Göteborg, Sweden | | January 29, 2009 Visited on January 24, 2009. Easy to get to by subway, located on a busy street, but nothing that bothers you once you’re inside. Got there fairly early before the upstairs restaurant part opened. The girl working was there by herself a while and didn’t seem to know a whole lot about how to handle the beers or what beers they had. Once she got replaced and moved on upstairs, the new gentleman proved quite knowledgeable about the beers they had on at the moment. Tried a nice selection of the beers brewed by Monk’s own micro brewery, which was nice. Also some other draught beers. They had a fair selection of bottled beers as well, so the night could have been long(er) and (more) expensive without us trying too hard. Did eat the meatballs, my friend got one of the hamburgers. Food is a bit pricey, but taste nice. Great service, fairly nice toilets. Will most likely return. | | baggio (19), norrtälje, Sweden | | January 16, 2009 A new Monks Cafe focusing more on draught beers than bottled ones. About 20-25 beers on draught all the time and among them several "rare" beers like Pannepot. They also have a decent selection of bottles but no where near the other Monks Cafe at Wallingatan.
Food includes Burgers, belgian style mussles and other decent pub-food. Burgers are good value.
Little less knowledgeable bartenders at this location and that somewhat ruins the experience. Still, if you’re looking for a central location to drink a few good beers, this works quite well. |
