3 reviews for Monk’s House of Ale Repute
| kyzr (18), Belgrade, Montana | | June 23, 2009 For Sioux Falls, this place rocked. Well worth a stop for Surly on tap. Had 5 different Surly’s on tap along with a few Belgiums. Good staff that had suggestions and answers. | | MrBendo (16), Swedesboro, New Jersey | | August 17, 2008 [ Updated August 19, 2008 ] A very good beer-geek bar new to my hometown. Probably the best bottle list in South Dakota, with carry-out optional at a 25% discount. The only place in SD that I’ve seen Jolly Pumpkin bottles. About 100-150 bottles to choose from, mostly representing Europe and American microbrews.
Also have about 10 beers on tap, and no macro-fillers.They even have their own SD-made beers on site. (I would have had one, but they were out at the time)
They have a cook, but only on certain nights. Bartender was knowledgeable about bottle selection, but his statement that Bam Biere tastes ’like sweaty feet’ definitely didn’t do much to convert anyone in my group. | Bourbonator (1), does not count - explanation | | December 28, 2007 Only in business for a week, Monk’s comes out of the gate strong with it’s great atmosphere, fantastic selection, and exceptional service. Monk’s is non-smoking and has nice, comfortable furnishings and decor. Kick back on the couch or in the leather chairs around the fireplace and peruse the extensive selection of beers on the menu. Certainly the best selection of belgians and imports in Sioux Falls with a generous splattering of american Micros to round things out. Every beer I ordered was served in style-appropriate glassware. The attentive and personable staff made some excellent recommendations for me. I’ll definitely be back. |
