6 reviews for Niagara’s Best Brewery and Pub
| j12601 (52), Poughkeepsie, New York | | November 25, 2009 While the beers may not all be impressive, the atmosphere is excellent. A melding of open space, clean lines, beautiful wood, and a quaint charm. Ended up doing the 10 for $10 sampler to try everything on tap (which is possibly the best deal on a sampler I’ve encountered) before moving on to a great dinner with a few pints. Service was great and everyone was quite friendly. | | mabel (134), Toronto, Ontario | | August 22, 2009 Visited on a quiet Friday lunch in August about 5 or 6 weeks after they opened, our group of four was warmly welcomed into a spacious, clean old converted house with a view in the back of the tanks in the brewery section, and a long bar around the corner, off to the side. (We stayed in the front room as it was lit with daylight.) Seven or eight of their brews were available which we tried in a flight and enjoyed, the stout being the best. Service was a little slow and mildly incompetent but otherwise friendly. I had a delicious BLT sandwich but someone else tried the fried fish and the bigger piece was grossly undercooked. Worth repeating a visit if only to try more of their beers and when the kinks of a new place are eventually worked out. Nice experience otherwise. | | jerc (141), Toronto, Ontario | | August 16, 2009 [ Updated September 1, 2009 ] We arrived early and were pretty much the only ones there till around noon when it picked up. We sat near the front door for the natural light, but the back area near the bar is cozier. Neat looking event space upstairs. The decor feels... like a newly renovated place, which it is. Hard to describe... its nice but lacks that worn in feel of a more established place. Server was friendly and competent, we didn’t quiz her on the beer but she knew enough to walk us through a sample tray which was all we needed really. Food is pretty basic pub grub. Soft pretzel appetizer was a touch oily but yummy. I had a burger that was quite tasty, fries were average. Scores points for coming with cheese and bacon included - the food was all quite reasonably priced. Beer - stout and IPA were the standouts, while the others are quite serviceable albeit on the mild side being tailored to more mainstream audiences. Overall impression? I probably would not make a special trip to visit again, but I would definitely come back if I was in the neighbourhood. Enjoyable.
(The overall score seems low, but the individual numbers are about right. Huh.) | | Boutip (33), Gatineau, Quebec | | August 13, 2009 Located in what appears to be an old house not too far from the main strip (probably a 5 minutes car rides from the Falls). The place appears to be brand new with a very relaxed atmosphere and some very nice modern design. The waitress seem a bit overwhelmed with the number of customer but still took some time to enquire if I liked the beer or not. The menu appears to be your standard pub grub. The menu also details every beers available. I should also mentions that they have a small bottle shop at the entrance and they fill growler which is quiet rare for Ontario. Very nice place that I will make sure to visit again next time I am in town. | | tgncc (24), Bellmore, New York | | July 16, 2009 Very nice place. Stopped in while at Niagara Falls w/the family. The place is very clean, and brightly lit. Maybe a little too small. It’s BRAND new, they don’t even have barstools yet, although that may change. They offer great economy, affordable beer and food. I genuinely enjoyed every beer I tried. They brew 100% of their beers on site. The service was cheerful, and prompt. I wish I had a place like this near where I live. I definitely think these guys will be successful. | | Sammy (273), Toronto, Ontario | | July 2, 2009 This brand new brewpub gets a very good rating on everything but the beer. Either the quantity of selection stretched their storage and capabilities, or the lines have the wrong mixture, but many were off, with sourness, watery, and tasting like club soda with some light flavouring. Only the oatmeal stout was drinkable, and even it tasted way overcarbonated. If the situation is changed soon, I am pleased to revisit and redo my thoughts.
On the positive side, convenient touristy location, with good amount of parking. Nice looking restaurant, sizeable patio, soon to be opened upstairs. The pontential is there, and given Ian has brewed a competent blond commerically before, the future should be looking up. Very attentive service, with pleasant staff though they did not know the beers. |
