BigDUK (9), , England does not count - explanation | | June 2, 2009 An unassuming, small, exterior hides the dark bar that extends back from the street. They always have art on the walls, every 6 weeks something new is up, livening up the place, newpapers on the end of the bar quite music and inviting, friendly and knowledgeable staff make a leisurely beer enjoyable away from the city streets. Can get busy later on in the evenings as one of the few places in Leeds we’re you find such an impressive collection of bottled beers. Several beers on tap, mainly continental, the bottle selection is large, varied and educated, the beer menu will help but the staff or your eagle eye will help you pick out new bottles missing from the list. Food is limited to a decent selection of pies and continental meat/cheese/bread boards (they used to do the best sandwiches in the world but no more!) as well as usual bar snacks. Prices vary, can be a bit steep for some bottles, but worth it for some of the rarer ones. | | Gazza (136), Worcester, England | | March 31, 2009 Great little bar, obviously a shop conversion, which has three cask ales (with occasional stillaged beer too) but it’s the foreign draught and bottles beers it best to come here for - the range changes frequently so it’s a plan to peer over the bar into the fridges to see what’s on sale. The staff are very sociable and will give tasters of draught beers. All in all, a cracking little place and a great addition to the scene. | | haddonsman (56), Derby, England | | August 16, 2006 Continental-style bar tucked away up New Briggate. Couple of cask ales, plenty of continental draught (Jever, Erdinger Dunkel, Dortmunder) and a decent selectionof bottles tending towards the Belgians. Guest continentals and bottles too. i prefer it during the day before the club crowd hit the place. Chilled music, good staff, decent beer at not-too-silly prices for a city centre bar. |
