| pubscout | It’s where The PubScout buys his beer!

| cryfreedmb | Finally made it here after meaning to take a stop off for months. Insane selection of foriegn beers. Great singles selection too. Prices were just ok. You can find better prices at a few local shore liquor stores. But nobody competes with their foreign beer selection. When it comes to craft domestics they are great but not over the top like they are with the international beers. Jay the manager ( i think) is very helpful and knowledgeable. Definitly worth a trip.

| urraca | Thanks to Rate Beer, I’ve found thee place to go for beer. I’ve been to Oak Tree, four times now, and it’s become a pay day weekend ritual. I’m fully addicted. I live a good hour and a half away, but it’s well worth the trip.
Never have I’ve been in a store with such a great, helpful staff who would go out of their way to grab you brews, recommend me different styles and breweries, and make me feel comfortable. I’m fairly new in the craft brew arena, but they made me feel welcome and want to explore many types of brews.
Steve was particularly helpful, and even gave me a complimentary Trappist glass on my way out. I can’t wait till I go back again, and I also highly recommend signing up for their mailing list.

lemasney | I don’t drive long distances lightly. I made the hour trek from the Trenton Area to the Metuchen exit on Route 1 based on the superlatives on RateBeer, and was not disappointed. At OakTree, I spent about an hour talking with Jay and Matt (?) about great beer, the state of the craft in NJ, and a few other topics like the rise of Norse brew. I felt compelled to spend about $200 since I knew I wouldn’t find this selection anywhere else. I found my Beer Geek breakfast I’ve been searching for, and about 20 other bombers I didn’t know I was looking for. Jay even found a special reserve bottle of Captain Lawrence Smoke/Oak and found me some great glassware to enjoy it with. I’ll be back again after my bank account recovers. It is the best in NJ, and perhaps the world.

PilsnerPeter | Glad I took the trip to this awesome place. I spoke to Dan, the manager, for about an hour. He really knows his stuff, and he’s extremely helpful. The selection is excellent and well organized by country/region, as well as fairly priced. Dan also is very aware of the ratebeer culture, and has a strong knowledge of what true beer geeks want from a store in-terms of service, products and everything. I spent over $200 here, and it was very worth while. I took immediate interest in the mailing list that they have, and definitely will plan future trips here.

willblake | Neat place that deserves all of the praise it has gotten. I appreciated the shelf talkers, the organized shelves, and the informed staff. Would have liked to have seen more lambics, but that’s more a product of lacking NJ distributors, I reckon, than lack of effort on Dan’s part bringing them in. It certainly appears that all new releases are making their way to Oak Tree. Bonus for being so close to another good store in Edison Super Saver, making for a slick round trip that can put a quick hurt on your wallet. These folks are obviously listening to the craft beer community - it shows in thier care and service. No doubt the best choice in NJ. Kudos!

pineypower | Journeyed up here because I was going near by, and now I know why this place is rated so well. Huge selection, nicely organized, and very helpful staff. Jason was the guy who helped me there and he definitely knew his beer and helped out on finding some of the rarer stuff I was looking for. Tons of domestic micro and import singles, 22’s and 750’s. Great store, but as stated watch for the store...addresses run even numbers on one side all the way up, then switch in the next town so it sneaks up to you. Overall a great store.

| djrn | A little out of the way for me but well worth the trip. As soon as I walked in I was bombarded by what seemed to be a semi stoned female employee, who was rather annoying to say the least. Once I escaped that awkward situation I could feast in the beauty that is Oak Tree Buyrite. A great selection of U.S. micros in single 12 & 22oz, but on the back wall is where you’ll find the exotic high priced heavy hitter imports. A great selection so don’t think you can go in there and not dump a hundred or two. Once there for a little while with a bunch of good beer piling up, I was approached by what seemed to be a young beer manager. He was very helpful and in fact hooked me up with some stuff not on the floor (last years Dogfish Head Red & White) and even threw me a couple of glasses on the way out. All in all this is a fine beer store that is worth the hour drive.

dmac | How is it that I have never rated the Oak? If you live in NJ or are just passing through this is THE place to go. You can’t beat the service as the owner Dan is one of the friendliest guys you will meet and he has put together an excellent crew, especially Jay that must never have a day off seeing that he is there everytime I go, that really knows their beer. The selection is the best I have seen in NJ everything from hard to find seasonal releases to Imports that I didn’t even know made it stateside. On my last trip there I picked up 18 singles a pair of CL Nor Easters various other goodies and a Dark Horizon first edition, wow still can’t believe they had that one. My only vice with this place is that it’s addictive. Each trip up there I buy a little more....so much so that I broke the $200 mark on my last trip so beware. Oh yeah make sure you talk to Dan or one of the beer guys because the really limited stuff is often not on the floor but in back so no one can hog all the rareities and everyone can get one or two.

bp | This place is great! Excellent selection and layout. The highest ranked beer shelves are a nice convenience if you are looking to pick up some top stuff that you’ve seen on the Top 50 list here. Staff was helpful and friendly as well. Go here.
