| Pivoyager (36), Gaithersburg, Maryland | | November 24, 2009 Formerly the Wharf Rat, the new establishment serves the same well crafted British style ales, including several nitro purs and casks. If you love great beer, then you will love it here.
It’s close to Camden Yards, so Orioles fans can conveniently drown their sorrows. Great food too! | | Holdwine (12), Beertimore, Maryland | | October 7, 2009 I like the new, cleaner place. The food is uneven at best, but you go there for the beer. And they make good beer and always have a nice selection to choose from. Great place to go before an O’s game. | | ben4321 (42), Rockville, Maryland | | September 10, 2009 I liked this place. Don’t judge the atmosphere by me, as I never actually walked inside. We came by on a really nice late summer afternoon, sat outside (hence never entering the actual establishment), and enjoyed a few beers. Has both 5 and 3 beer sampler sets (the 3 beer set being larger samples), which I thought was a nice feature. I thought they had a really nice selection of British style beers. Pretty much all their stuff fit the traditional British styles. They were out of a couple beers the day I went, otherwise I may have gone higher on my selection rating. Overall though, I thought this was a nice brew pub, definitely worth a stop off if you are in the area.
| | Nejhleader (64), Lemoyne, Pennsylvania | | September 7, 2009 not a bad place, has okay beers and food. Pretty nice atmosphere, nice bar, staff was mostly friendly. prices were high for the average quality of the food/beer. | scraff (9), Baltimore, Maryland does not count - explanation | | June 18, 2009 Going here for years before Orioles games. New owners have really spruced up the place. Knowledgebale bar staff wil pour you samples of any beer. Have not had the food yet, but most of the beers are still very good. 3-4 casks available daily too is always a plus. Growler fills still permitted as well. I say its a must stop if you’re coming to Charm City. | | keepersj12 (19), Sicklerville, New Jersey | | June 11, 2009 Stopped in while at a convention. Right across the street from the center and far enough away from the tourist trap of the Inner Harbor. They had about 15 of their own beers on tap and the ones I tried were very good. The service was very friendly and knowledgable (not bad to look at either). The food I had was very good. Striped bass fish and chips. Nice English style pub feel. The prices were very good too. | | Lubiere (177), Ottawa, Ontario | | February 22, 2009 Very close to the baseball and football stadium for the sports fan. Went there during a Raven’s game, when the crowd was absent. Service was attentive and the brewer and owner chatted with me for a while. Brewed on premise beer selection was big so its difficult to try everything. Samplers is 3 10 on. beers for 5$. so i focused on seasonals. The place packed quickly after the game and most of the food I’ve seen seemed yummy. Very much a British pub feel. | | HoppityHop (45), New Jersey | | September 28, 2008 Excellent true-to-style English style ales (served at proper temps) and solid pub style food at decent prices, this is one of the best brewpubs on the East Coast. Probably one of the most authentic English pubs this side of the pond. Even though it’s down the street from Camden Yards, it’s certainly not a place for snobs or jocks........which only makes it all the better! | | Sammy (273), Toronto, Ontario | | June 27, 2008 A few stouts and bitters that are drinkable, a decent outside downtown. Outside of that, an overated bar. Not too large inside with punk style music, and waitresses. A couple of nitro taps, no casks on today. Kind of marginal to the afficionado. Long bar, no real knowledge on the part of staff. Service was Ok, prices are competitive with the beer scene here, 3 half pints for $5 Baltimore working class. | | badlizard (67), Berkeley, California | | December 5, 2007 Showed up with a party of six at 10:30 on a Sat. after a big game. They had the dinning area closed leaving only the too small and very crowded bar area, which could not accommodate our party. To make things worse, they do not sell samplers after 7PM. That was a real deal breaker for us, especially after seeing they had a decent selection. The service was a bit gruff, and all in all the experience here sucked. Definitely NOT worth a visit. |
