RateBeer Brew Tour Guide's Comments
A fairly short drive northeast of Boulder is Longmont, and here you’ll find two brewpubs adjacent to each other. Go figure. This is my pick of the two (the other is the Left Hand Taphouse) for several reasons...there’s no smoking here, it’s cleaner and larger (and more tasteful decor), and quite simply, the beer is better overall (IMHO). Most of the beer is average or slightly better (again IMHO), but they do have some standouts, mainly the seasonals (my fave is the Scottish ale).

Dansting | Visited for dinner on a Thursday night. The building was pretty big and right on the main street in Longmont. We had a group of five of us, but we were seated outside almost immediately. The service was very good, as the waitress was very friendly. The food was extremely good (I had a huge chicken burrito), and the beers were also very tasty. The atmosphere was perfect, as the staff, seating, and weather were all ideal for having a good time. I would definitely stop back if I was nearby.

waolsen | We were looking for Lefthand when we stumbled in here. Nice bar with real nice patio right on Main St. Great place to watch games. The beers were enjoyable and the food was better than most breweries in the area. Definately worth a stop.

ratman197 | Nice open, airy bar area with polished stainless fermenters visable above the bar. The bartender was quite friendly and offered plenty of samples. The beer selection was excellent with 5 regulars and 5 specials. The food was very tasty with a diverse selection. A very enjoyable brewpub!

Braudog | April 2006: We got a bad review of this place from a brewer at another brewery in the state, so our expectations were low. But we were pleasantly suprised. The bartender was very knowledgeable, friendly and on top of it. Not all the beers were great, but they offered a slew of them, and overall I’d say they were pretty good. Didn’t eat, but would have. Nice outdoor patio.

BeerandBlues2 | Nicely decorated in Firehouse theme with plenty of seating available. Good selection of house beers on tap including some seasonals. The food is standard pub fare with okay pricing. Service was decent but not excellent.

acrdz | A very nice building with abundant outside seating, and generally friendly people working and drinking. The beer is above average, but not exceptional, though they score points for having plenty on tap. Also they offer a couple of other locals on tap, such as New Belgium Frambozen over Xmas 2003.

Ernest | Lots of different beers on tap, good food (better than pub grub, no doubt about that), and a neat atmosphere make this a fun place to hang out. And now that Longmont establishments are officially smoke-free, like Boulder, it's even better. For me, though, it lacks a "standby" beer that I can always enjoy pint after pint, which is what Mountain Sun offers (Java Porter, as long is it isn't nitro poured).

JohnC | This renovated firehouse has very good service, great food and a pretty decent selection of beers. When I'm in Longmont on business, I usually eat there.

Aubrey | Great atmosphere (renovated firehouse with a firefighter theme, naturally) ... brick, exposed I-beams, shiny vessels, high ceilings, etc. Great service, awesome food, and pretty decent beer make it one nice package. They even have a heated outdoor patio (so you can sit outside in 30 degrees with just a t-shirt on). One of my favorite places to eat in Boulder County.
