17 reviews for The Bier Stein
| Taverner (78), San Ramon, California | | December 23, 2009 In short, beer heaven! The place has everything available in the PNW, or CA for that matter. If you don’t find it in the cooler, it might just be on the wall. Nice ambience and friendly staff. | | Unibonger (12), Mount Shasta, California | | November 13, 2009 Insane selection, smelled/looked like good food, decent atmosphere, friendly service. | | DTM (13), Winters, California | | June 30, 2009 This place is awesome. We were up visiting Eugene on a baseball/beer trip and found this place. Loved the atmosphere, loved the food, and of course loved the beer. so much beer there were too many to count. They also had great sandwich selection for food and about 10 good beers on tap. WOW!! | Senormac (2), Springfield, Oregon does not count - explanation | | March 5, 2008 This place it tops for finding unusual and hard to get beers!! Seating capacity is only moderate.....but people without seats are encouraged to oggle the refrigerator cases for interesting beer labels WHILE SIPPING THEIR TAP POUR!! Friendly. Great conversation place.....can get kinda loud at times, but thats just cuz everyone feels so comfortable. Selection is of course awesome, with over 900 beer choices....and food is pretty decent. Some excellent sandwiches and appetizers. No fries or onion rings is the only minus on the food side. Only way to improve this place is expand....or maybe get some dart boards. Don’t miss going here while in the Eugene / Springfield area. | beerradley (1), Eugene, Oregon does not count - explanation | | September 17, 2007 A nice big selection of quality beer. Clean. A little too bright. Small. Always crowded. A little too bright for my taste in bars. Closes early. Good food. | | NickVega (28), Eugene, Oregon | | August 13, 2007 [ Updated August 16, 2007 ] Well, in Eugene the Bier Stein is KING! I mean --- even in most large cities there are NO places that truly offer 900+ beers. Very friendly staff. | | marcus (91), Sacramento, California | | August 7, 2007 This is a clean well-lighted restaurant/bar with ample seating at the 8 - stool bar and the dozen or so tables. There are 10 taps dispensing decent, but rather mediocre imported and domestic beers. But the real attraction is the awesome selection of great beers along the walls and in the huge refrigerator section. For example, there is a full line of Dogfish Head (about a dozen beers) and also Fantome (about 8 beers). One can take home any beer from the cooler or drink it at the bar (in an appropriate glass) for no additional charge. I wasn’t hungry, but the guy next to me said the food was excellent. The barkeeps are friendly and helpful. | | beerinmarch (118), Washington | | November 29, 2006 By far the best place in Eugene, the owner Chip has done amazing things with this place. Very small place, but feels more spacious inside, set up very European like, you get to eat with strangers often. The beer selection is amazing and very well kept. You can either get beer with your meal or take it to go. The food was excellent and the service top notch. Wish this place had been there when I was still in school. | | unclemattie (104), Georgia | | August 2, 2006 [ Updated August 14, 2006 ] This is the place!!! A few great taps. not too many, that way the beer stays fresh. if you don’t like the taps, grap a temp controlled bottle, and they’ll open it for you. Discount if you just want to shop. Bought some really great goodies!!! Better than Bottleworks. Freindlier too. | | batkins (78), Vancouver, Washington | | June 10, 2006 Took forever, but I finally made it down to Chip’s place. This place is awesome. Beer is everywhere. Lots of GOOD beer, with a 15% discount for "to go" beer. They even have the proper glassware for everything. Everyone there was knowledgeable and very friendly/helpfull. Had a couple of sandwiches (went twice) and both were great. It’s great when the owner and wife are actually running the place. WARNING - Don’t park in the lot next door. It’s been converted to a pay lot and they will tow you. |
