25 reviews for The Covey Restaurant and Brewery
thirdeye11 (6), Texas does not count - explanation | | November 23, 2009 This place is an interesting brewpub, and one of the only "True" brewpubs we have in the DFW metroplex. They brew on site, they have growlers to go, and by all normal standards for brewpubs, this place breaks conventions.
It’s extremely fancy, and near a fine-dining experience in terms of the atmosphere and food menu. Service at the bar is great, but from the waitstaff is quite slow.
The food itself is excellent, wild Texas game to choose from, prepared in clever ways. The pizzas are good too.
The beer is probably the best that’s made in DFW in my opinion. Generally they have 8 draughts, and more than half of them are above average beers. Their take on Belgians is interesting and quite well done also.
I like the Covey, and try to make it out when I can despite being 50 miles from home. | | blutt59 (53), Dallas, Texas | | November 15, 2009 good restaurant and brewpub near TCU that always has a seat and good food, beers are better than averaga and they are doing some really nice styles, a quality abeit pricey stop | | angrypirate06 (16), Texas | | September 28, 2009 This is a pretty neat place. There are some cool paintings on the walls of Texas ranches and wildlife. The food is very good as well. The chicken fried steak is as big as a tire and only costs about $10. The brewer here also has a couple interesting beers going. Definitely worth checking out! | TChrome (7), Bedford, Texas does not count - explanation | | August 21, 2009 I have been visiting quite a bit recently and I am most impressed. For one thing, the bar food is as good as any you will have, especially the jalapena poppers with aligator meat and the mini tacos (trust me here you have to try these). The beer is getting better everytime as well. What began as amber and lagers has progressed to Regalement and Premonition Porter, the latter being an abosolute kick ass Baltic Porter. If you are in Fort Worth, don’t miss this place! | | KAggie97 (158), Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring , Texas | | August 3, 2009 Went here with Cavie and my lil’ brother. Upscale place along the lines of Rock Bottom. Food is priced high, but it is DELICIOUS. (The chicken friend lobster tacos are mind-blowingly tasty.) The sampler features all available brews. All but the porter were either average or below average, so no point coming here just for the beer. Talked to the brewmaster but, like Cavie said, he seemed to have other things to do. (A waiter quit earlier so maybe that had something to do with it.) Not a bad place but don’t expect the beer to blow you away. The Premonition Porter is one of the better porters I’ve had, however; very well made and tasty. Tricky place to find if you’re not from the area. | | Cavie (53), Fort Worth, Texas | | August 1, 2009 Wasn’t a bad trip but could have been better. Went over with Kaggie97 to check things out. We tried everything they had to offer as far as house brews which was 7. We got a chance to chat with the brewmaster but to be honest he seemed preoccupied with other things and didn’t seem too interesting in talking with us. We wanted to tour the backroom but he was nowhere to be found afterwards. The food was better than good, and I would recommend it to anyone but it is expensive. I asked the brewmaster if he had anything special tucked away in the back for his "special" guest but he reneged on that. Oh well. Decent but upscale I suppose. | | ericandersnavy (28), crossroads, Texas | | April 9, 2009 went here to pick up a growler for kiefdog. very nice atmosphere. place has a very cozy feel to it. you can tell it is a little upscale. the bartender let me sample a number of beers. even got to speak with jamie the head brewer. he even brought me a sample of his maibock which will be ready in about 2 weeks from the time of this rating. i really enjoyed this place. i didnt get a chance to try the food however. it is a little pricey, but overall very nice. | | travita (14), Frisco, Texas | | January 18, 2009 Nice place, pretty empty at first but filled up nicely. The food ranged from good to very good for everybody with me. The beers ranged from medicore to really good. Sampler was a pretty good deal. The only real negative was the service, there was only waiter(also the bartender) to wait on about 12 tables so service was very slow. | redgold07 (7), Irving, Texas does not count - explanation | | May 1, 2008 I really like this place... good beer, good food, etc. 12 guage stout is killer. | | ilovedarkbeer (39), Dallas, Texas | | April 12, 2008 I liked this place. Had a country club vibe and was not very crowded. Staff was nice and somewhat knowledgeable. Food is really good. Beer is actually pretty good too. I would definitly reccommend this place. |
