4 reviews for The Hart & Thistle
| Lubiere (177), Ottawa, Ontario | | October 27, 2009 Located at the old John Shippey location, this place is so well situated! Beautiful of the water, nice shopping mall, excellent food. Had the Haddock, Shrimp, Scallops and Chips. Service is beer geek friendly, with samples offered (if you ask gently). Favorite place in Halifax. Only wished they had more HT beers on tap! They are so good!!! | | Spab (24), Toronto, Ontario | | August 19, 2009 Got in around lunch time during a trip to NS. Nice big patio on the water in Historic Properties makes a great spot to enjoy the afternoon. Inside has nice clean modern look. Service decent. Really good east coast beer selection (and a handful of crummy macros) - some nice Garrison, Propeller and Pump House beers. And the the 2 brews from the pub were first rate. Food was pretty ordinary from my perspective. Definitely worth a visit. | | coldbrewky (49), Saugerties, New York | | August 13, 2009 On a lovely afternoon prior to the tattoo, my family and I had a very pleasant dinner with drinks while sitting in the boardwalk table seating area. Recomended by our hotels front desk when querried on the best place with local beers on tap, the Hart and Thistle did not dissapoint. Near the end they lost power and paying the bill was a bit of a headache but the ambiance and service were good. | | Gethinbeer (65), Nova Scotia | | August 8, 2009 [ Updated August 24, 2009 ] The pub is in a great location, down-town Halifax right on the waterfront. Great for summer days or evenings sat watching the boats etc. The building is in the old market area, has nice wooden beams and decor. French doors open out onto a large patio area. The service was great. Pretty chilled atmosphere going on. The beer selection is limited at the moment due to it just opening. Two beers available on tap. Food was standard pub grub. I had the Hart burger, very tasty with decent home cooked fries. Overall I liked the place a lot and hope its successful through the winter months. I hope they bring back the Simcoe Smash. |
