If you are in Birmingham, and are serious about beer, go to the J Clyde. Do not swing by if you are in a hurry, or are very hungry. They are painfully slow. Still though, very much worth the wait.

I came in from out of town and was told to try this place. I was not very happy! The place was very nice and the waiter was fine. As I ordered my beer the people at the table next to me overheard me.They started to give me a hard time about the beer I ordered. I thought they were kidding but they were not.I tried not to pay attenion to them and eat my meal. The hamburger was great untill the last 2 bites. It had some grit in it that tasted bad. I will try them again and see if it gets any better.

One of my favorite places in Birmingham. They’re up to 77 beers on tap now and ~200 in bottles. Service needs a bit of work but it’s getting much better and in no way detracts me from eating/drinking here!

Great little beer bar. Very good selection and a wonderful, helpful and friendly staff. Food is good, with some interesting selections like curried hummus and sweet potato fries. Patio is nice. A fun, enjoyable bar that caters to beer lovers.

Good bar. Hard to find of course. But they have a good selection of what you can actually get in Alabama and are working hard to get more. Good draft specials too.

Went on an extremely crowded night last week. Other than the crowd being very different than what I’m usually used to in Bham, pretty solid bar. Definitely a hidden secret in the land of Bell Bottoms.

I had a really good time at thie place. The beer selection was great (considering it’s AL). The 6% law hurts here as far as what kind of beer, but they did have a big selection of what they could sell. The food was great, just the selection was small. I had the Bavarin Sausage.

For me, it doesn’t get much better. Two things do it for me - a great patio and a huge selection of beer. It is the longest list of beer I have seen in the state of Alabama and rivals some of the top establishments that I have visited. You can enjoy something new or an old favorite on their patio/porch and relax as it should be. Bring some friends and prepare to relax and enjoy. The owners and staff are very attentive and trying very hard to build a first class establishment with a first call beer selection. I would recommend The J. Clyde to anyone.

The food is still good at The J. Clyde and the beer selection is incredible for Alabama. I’ve been going there for a year and have had great experiences every time.
