A cozy little bar that feels like a bunch of friends hanging out in someones basement. Always extremely friendly service and for the most part knowledgable about the beers on tap. Food is excellent and relatively inexpensive, and although the selection is limited, it does change daily. Not a huge beer selection but they typically focus on microbrews (mainly Ontario based)

Comfortable basement pub in Ottawa’s downtown. Well-lighted and while not quite classy, you could certainly not call it trash. Not very adventurous, but solid selection of draught craft microbrews mainly focused on Ontario’s best microbreweries and English styles. A sure place if you’re just in the mood for a good pint, but probably not the place to rock your world with a new discovery. Basically, do not make it a priority, but with a few days in town, this should be worth hitting.

The selection I found was lacking here. There were LOTS of macros on tap, this i did not understand. I did enjoy my Church Key West COast IPA, but really the amount of macros was a HUGE let down, i wasnt expectiing Keiths in this place after all the hype people had spoken about. The food thought was AMAZING!

On our first trip to Ottawa last weekend we arrived around 2-ish and headed to The Manx for a late lunch and a pint or 2. They were serving brunch so I got a breakfast burrito and the beautiful bride got an omelet or something. Both were decent. Service was solid. A few taps 5 - 6 - we opted for the McAuslan stuff - an oatmeal stout for me and a pale for the BB. Nice tight funky little old-style English pub scene. Decent music, friendly neighborhood crowd. I liked it a lot - we’ll hopefully make our way back there sometime soon.

Talk about cozy. Well-lit but not overlit low-ceilinged basement bar has a dingy, lived-in but lovingly cared for pubby feel, with old worn red velvet everywhere, copper bar tables, and a small bar. I stopped for lunch en route to parts west and found efficient, quick service, very solid and surprisingly healthy food options, and a couple of excellent pints of local and fairly uncommon beers. This place isn’t going to blow anyone, even an Ontarian used to crappy choices, away with its selection, but everything seemed well-chosen, little to no crap on tap, and the feel of the place is wonderful. I’ll be back.

Cozy little pub walking distance from downtown. Emphasis on the little! It filled up surprisingly fast on a Tuesday after work. Has an atmosphere very much like I would expect in a small town local in the UK, not quite as shiny and new as some but with a lot of character. Had a pint of Church Keys West Coast Pale Ale that was in fine enough form that I ordered another. Tap list is on the small side [maybe my memory is off, or I mentally dismissed the less interesting options] , but has some decent local stars. If my pint is any indication, perhaps the shorter tap list helps ensure the beer is served at its best?

Small basement pub, I was there in the afternoon it was quiet. The beer selection was very good from the view point of micro breweries, good choices. The service was friendly. The only bad thing was not their fault, it is the ******* parking.

Interesting, smallish place tucked away in the basement of an apartment building. Cool-looking inside with lots of copper and brass. Decent tap list with something for everyone. Might be a few local seasonals on as well. Short menu, but the lamb wrap I had was quite tasty. There’s not enough new stuff here to sustain a serious drinking session, but it’s a nice little place, with good, reasonably priced food, quality service and some interesting beer.

Interesting little pub with an average beer selection, but excellent food. The chef really knows what he’s doing here, and the prices are very affordable as well. Atmosphere was a bit loud, but it was a Friday evening, so I wasn’t exactly expecting quietude. Not worth a detour I think, but a really nice place to have a meal with an interesting beer if you are in Ottawa.
